Nanning Vietnamese Border
Posted: Sun October 7, 2007 06:32 PM UTC
Has anyone been from Nanning to Hanoi on non organised trip? We are looking to go in December and are wondering what visa to get. We want to buy a double entry, however are not entirely sure about the date we will get back into China and therefore might buy a multiple entry? Any thoughts?

Any comments about the border crossing and back would be appreciated.

Nanning Nanning - Hanoi once again
Posted: Sun September 18, 2005 07:11 PM UTC
We are 2 families travelling Oslo-Shanghai-Hangzhou-Beijing-Nanning. The children are 9 years old. We would like to end the trip in Halong Bay/Cat Ba and go home from Hanoi. The hard part is to cross the border to Vietnam. With 2 children it should not be too straining. At the same time the adults would really like to see this part of Guangxi and the border part by Pingxiang. - Is it true there are trains only twice a week? Morning trains preferable to see the landscape- when in the morning? Train goes through border? When does it arrive Hanoi? Would be greatful for answers! And sorry to Ritchie Lionheart for being so ignorant that I didn't check how far - 300 km and not 60... Thanks in advance!

Nanning Nanning- Hanoi
Posted: Sun September 4, 2005 03:11 PM UTC
Have seen Q about this before - how can it be so difficult? - 60 km between cities! - Is it possible by maxitaxi (several people) between cities, or complicated for taxidriver to cross border? Is travel worse from Nanning to border, or after border to Hanoi? Taxi to border, bus from there? Riciculous with plane such short distance, but anyone who has tried?
