Hi, I really hope someone can help out on how to find a cheap place to live in Ljubljana as soon as possible. Any tips highly appreciated!
My girlfriend and her friend has just arrived in Ljubljana to study at the university until mid-June this year. They're currently living in some dorms, but would like to find their own place as soon as possible.
It would be perfect with just two seperate rooms and of course a bathroom and a kitchen, but might be bigger as well. Doesn't have to be right beside the university, but still pretty central.
Are there anyone who knows about anything like that, or has some tips as of where to look online or in the city for short term appartments? (4-5 months).
Best regards!
Brian

Just read about this company on the Fodor travel forum. Apparently theyrun a direct bus service between Venice and Ljubljana.
Anybody heard of them or used this service ?

Wondering how many buses a day run between Trieste and Ljubljana and if it's possible to do the train journey from Venice to Trieste and bus from Trieste to Ljubljana, in one day.
Information much appreciated.

Travelling in July from Dubrovnik to Treviso, Italy via Slovenia via car. Have been quoted around AUD $2000 for 10 days car hire. Any suggestions on how to decrease this cost? Ive looked at breaking up the trip Dubrovnik to Split, Split to Ljubljana and Ljubljana to Treviso, but even doing that, the cost comes in at around AUD $1600. Obviously one-way drop off increases the price, but I was surprised to receive such high quotes

Hiya.
I'm really keen to go away for 2 weeks at the end of February/beginning of March just by myself. I'm a musician so I'm looking for somewhere in Slovenia, where I can take my guitar and be inspired by my surroundings. I'm ideally looking for a log cabin or a lovely apartment in an incredible surrounding (trees, hills etc.). I've also tried to look for somewhere with a hot tub but I'm very much struggling to find somewhere with these kind of facilities that doesn't break my budget of Ł800 for the 2 weeks.
If anybody has any suggestions of a lovely destination or accommodation, it'd VERY MUCH be appreciated.
Thank you.
Scotty.

Hello, everyone!
Does anyone know if there are buses running from Ljubljana to Vienna (Dunaj in Slovene language)? I did some superficial research but couldn't find much... Maybe from any other city in the country, since it's so small?
I checked the trains but if the schedules I found on DB Bahn are accurate, then most of them don't work that well for me. I would either have to lose a whole day with luggage in Vienna or I would risk losing my flight from Vienna airport if the trains are delayed...

In May we will be spending 10 days in Slovenia then travelling from Ljubljana to Venice. The train is difficult to we are looking for an alternative. There seems to be two choices and I need to know which is the more reliable.
One is a company called Go Opti who seem to run a shuttle although I can's find anything on the net about this company.
The other is a bus company called DRD Bus. A few reviews online that say this company doesn't seem too reliable.
Can anyone tell me if they know about these two companies and which one we should trust to get us to Venice ?

We are planning on spending a couple of weeks in Slovenia in August. We don't have a lot of choice on the timing. Are there heaps of tourists there in August and if so, any recommendations on where to go that isn't too busy? We'll be travelling by bus or train. Thankyou

Hello.
Which provides a more awesome experience between Postojna and Skocjan cave? We only have limited time in Ljubljana but would really love to visit one of these caves.
Hope to hear your opinions. Thanks.

I would like to spend a relaxing weekend in a Slovenian Spa. I've already been to Moravske toplice, Topolšica and Zrece, now I would like to try some place I haven't been yet. I've read all sort of websites and rewievs about the Slovenian spas, but I am still sooo undecided which to choose. I would like to try one of these: Radenci (Hotel Izvir), Rogaška (Hotel Styria), Catež (Hotel Terme) or Šmarješke toplice (Hotel Vital). Pictures in the hotel websites are all so promising, but often it turns out that reality is different... I'm basically looking for a good hotel with nice spa (whirpools, swimmingpools etc.).
So, can anyone help me by suggesting me which of the spas mentioned above is worth a visit?
Thank you in advance!

I've been looking at the Slovenian train website, searching for trains from Maribor to Ljubljana and back and saw a "tourist weekend ticket" advertised. It says this ticket is valid for domestic train services on a weekend.
Is this ticket valid in an ICS train for travelling from Maribor to Ljubljana and back on the same day, a Saturday? It's a lot cheaper than the regular fare.
It also says, that reservation is compulsory. How much is the reservation fee?
Thank you for your help.

One of the trains which my daughter considers taking arrives very late in Maribor, too late to figure out the bus system in the dark after a long day spent in the train and on stations. Is there a taxi rank at the station? Is there else anything else to know about the taxis in Slovenia? I'm thinking something like the difference between the official taxis and the unlicensed minicabs in London.
We've booked our trains and hotels and I'm really looking forward to finally going to Slovenia. The more I read about it, the more I wish we'd have more time there.

Dear VTers,
I need some help here. This December I would like to visit a couple of Christmas markets in Slovenia and Klagenfurt. I have already visited the markets at Alto Adige a couple of years ago and enjoyed myself and really got into the Christmas spirit. This year I am planning to land in Treviso Italy and hire a car and drive to Bled & Ljubljana and then to Klagenfurt.
Problem is that hired cars in Italy are not equipped with snow/winter tires. Ok,I can get snow chains but do you think that I have any difficulties driving in Slovenia with normal tires?
Are the Christmas markets in Slovenia and Klagenfurt worth visiting compared to Merano or Vipiteno?
Thanks in advance,
Ronnie

We need to travel by public transport from Lake Bled to Italy on 27 December and have to arrive in Lucca on 28 December. We were hoping to overnight in Trieste on 27 December but finding direct route from Lake Bled is problematic. Can anybody help with any suggestions? Would it possible to catch overnight train and go to Lucca, rather than stopover in Trieste?
Any help would be appreciated thanks

We're thinking of taking the night train to Maribor, to have at least two full days there. Are there any left luggage facilities in the train station? We haven't booked a hotel yet, but no matter where, we won't be able to go there at 9:00 in the morning.
I suppose there are taxis at the train station, aren't there?
Does anyone know of a hotel/hostel near Panonska ulica?
As always, thank you for any information.

Hi
I will be arriving in Koper, Slovenia via a cruise ship and have to make a choice between the following two tours:
1. Lake Bled- 7 hour tour inclusive of 2hours drive to and from cruise pier(4hours of driving) with an hours boat ride on the lake and 2 hours free time to explore the castle/church and alpine scenery.
2. Ljubliana tour- 7hour tour with 75minutes drive each way to and from pier, includes a walking tour of city and all highlights, open markets, town hall, architecture, followed by a 1hour riverboat ride, lunch at a slovenian inn and then 90minutes of free time.
I have looked at pictures on the net of both Lake Bled and Ljubliana; and they both look very interesting and beautiful. I would love advise from those who have experienced these parts of Slovenia as to which of these tours I should choose given that I only have 1 day in Slovenia.

My daughter has been accepted as a volunteer in a senior citizens' home in Maribor. She can take three weeks off from her job here, mid-October to mid-November, that's when she will be in Maribor.
Since she is very busy right now, I offered to find out some of the basics for her trip, and I hope VTers will help me there.
What's the best way to get there, train or car? If we book in advance, the train will be cheaper, but how easy is it to get around on public transport in Maribor? Naturally she wants to see some of the area around Maribor as well.
If she comes by car, how is the parking situation in Maribor? Expensive? She drives an old Diesel, how much is Diesel now? I saw some old quote in another forum question, it was slightly cheaper than here in Germany.
What about parking in Ljubljana on a weekend? It looks like there are several trains between Maribor and Ljubljana, so going by train may be easier and more comfortable. Are both train stations pretty much in the centre of the cities?
And the next main question: Where to stay? My daughter has to find her own accomodation. Has anyone stayed in Hostel Eva or Hostel Uni? Is one better than the other?
Thank you for any information. We're going to see her for a weekend. Some years ago we had everything booked for a nice stay in Slovenia and then had to cancel, so this time we are determined to go, even if it's just for a few days.

Hi
I shall be arriving at Lesce-Bled station from Klagenfurt by train.
Can anyone help me to get to Pr' Matjon, where I will be staying for the next 4 night by bus from Lesce-Bled station? This pension is in the village of Selo.
Also I am wondering if i should spend all 4 days exploring region near Bled or should i take a train/bus to Ljubjana or to Maribor. which one is prettier?
Any idea what buses? or trains and how much?
It will have to be day trips. is it worth seeing these 2 cities or shall i visit them on another trip to europe and spend all my time in bled?
was just wondering because if the weather is rainy, it would be pointless to be in Bled and so i might as well go visit the other 2 cities should it rain. Please help

A dilemma my kid is facing. For instance in the past we found that while in Belgrade it is a rather neutral question - in rural Serbia "Visa" checking card is more widely accepted by ATM-s than "Master".
What is the situation in Slovenia? Should he get a "visa" for duration of his studies or a "master"?
(Obviously this is not passport-related question, we don't need any visa to Slovenia, even long-term)
