Nice, Monaco and the nearby areas 20th May - 24th May Posted: Sat April 25, 2009 01:37 PM UTC
Hi!
I'm travelling to Nice, Monaco and the nearby areas on 20th May - 24th May and would like to check if any of you have any special recommendations to make with regard to any events, festivals or special happenings going on in those areas in that timeperiod.
If not, than any tips on fun stuff, don't miss this ... and to die for restaurants and nightclubs are appreciated :)

Buying clothes in Nice Posted: Fri April 17, 2009 04:05 AM UTC
Hello,
I'll try to get right to the point:
I'm a tall German going on a trip to France and would like to buy some clothes, there. I've heard in Paris it was rather difficult, because the people there (including men, of course) were shorter than Americans (or Germans for that matter).
Is the same thing true for Nice? In Italy and in Spain the people seem to be significantly taller in the North than those in the South...Is that true for France, too? (in that case, I'll know I have to find something while I'm in Paris or I won't find anything that fits me in Nice, either lol)
Merci beaucoup!:-)

Nice Airport to Monte Carlo by train? Posted: Mon March 30, 2009 09:29 PM UTC
Dear all
I have just learnt there are direct trains to Monte Carlo from the train station at Nice Airport (Gare Saint-Augustin). That would save us the bus journey into Monaco.
How easy is it to get to Gare Saint-Augustin from the airport terminals? Is it possible to walk? Is the route clearly sign posted?
Thanks
Merci

Nice to Monte Carlo Country Club via train Posted: Sat March 7, 2009 09:05 AM UTC
Hi everyone
I am coming to watch the Monte Carlo Masters tennis next month but staying in Nice. I have checked the tournaments website and it says you can get a train from Nice direct to the country club as there is a station nearby.
I have tried the SNCF website and i can't find any trains that go there, only to the main station in Monte Carlo. I also can't find any timetables with a list of all stops so i can see which trains do go there. This is what was posted for last year
http://montecarlo.mastersseries.com/4/en/event/travel2008.pdf
so you can get the train.
Can anyone help?
Thank you in advance for any replies.

Help!!!! Posted: Wed January 28, 2009 09:47 PM UTC
I will be in Mougins in the last week in March and I will be renting a car; do I need an International Driver's License to drive in France or can my California driver's license do? Should I drive to Monaco? Is parking the pits? What about Nice, is parking horrendous? Are there nice small towns, villages and vineyards in this area that is not too far to drive? Help!!!!

Children summer activity program camp for locals in French Posted: Sat January 3, 2009 06:30 PM UTC
Hello all. Was wondering if anyone knows of a camp or some summer activity program for children (my daughter is 5) in the Provence area. She is completely francophone and I would prefer to have her with French children in something local and not expensive. I know that the French very 'social' system proposes many such activities but I don't know how to find them as I am in NYC. Any suggestions, experience or advice is greatly appreciated!

2 days in Nice Posted: Wed December 10, 2008 11:03 PM UTC
Hello,
We are three friends (late 20's) visiting Nice for 2 days in Mid january.
With the help of various posts in the forums here are things I think I want to see:
Cours saleya - market place
Promenade des Anglais (anything in particular?? )
Modern and contemprary art mueseum ( Is it really nice ?? we will be coming from paris before this and also are not very much interested in museums )
Le chateau
Villa Kerylos and the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild,
Monte carlo (half day or full day ?? )
Old town
Can someone tell me what will be the feasible way to do this?
what should be the order to see these things.. depending on location, time of the day??
what would be the best way to reach each place... any recommendation for restaurants (we will need veg options too)
Which area should we book hotel.. old town or Promenade des Anglais??
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance..

Nice with 2 yr old Posted: Sun November 16, 2008 03:38 PM UTC
Hi we are thinking of heading to Nice for a few days in January and will bring our 2 yr old son with us. Are there any nice playgrounds or other things a toddler would enjoy? I'm sure he would love the beach even if the weather is bad! Or can anyone recommend family friendly restaurants?
Thanks a lot

Security in Cote dAzur, Nice Posted: Sat August 30, 2008 12:26 AM UTC
Hi guys,
i have been reading reviews about Nice region, and Cote d'Azur, and im a little worried about security. At pps pages here were said they saw women been robbed in day light, cars being broken etc. We are savvy travelers but im really worried... we are book for a hotel in Cogolin center, two nights, and Nice old town (near by Promenade des Anglais), and yes, we will be renting a car.
It is that bad? is my first time in France... Designer bag, professional cameras, etc would be too exposed? Any advices, tips ?
Thank you so much for your help!

Best hotel location? Posted: Thu August 28, 2008 08:33 AM UTC
Hi guys!
we are a 30s couple and are about to book hotels for Cote d'azur region, traveling in two weeks. we want to break our full 4 days stay in btw west (St Tropez region -2 nights) and east (Nice region -two nights). so my question is, in St tropez area, where is the better place to stay? Cogolin or Ste,Maxime? (any other ideas?) and in Nice region, Nice town or Antibes? (any other ideas?). we will be with a car, and the idea is to visit the towns around the coast during the day by car, but we do want to stay in a quiet/charming town, especially to enjoy the night, if possible by foot.
Have been really confusing to understand the best location.
Please any suggestion would be really appreciated. Thank you!
