| Bratislavsky | EXPAT MEETING GROUP in Bratislava Posted: Wed September 12, 2007 01:37 PM UTC
Ahojte
I am an italian expat living in Bratislava since 2 months now. I was living in Berlin and Dublin before and really miss the international atmosphere both at work and in town. Maybe I am not going to the right places or do you have any tips where I can meet foreigners? I work for a big international company, but unexpectedly no foreigners on sight here I love Slovak people, my boyfriend is Slovak, and I speak the language.. but I miss so much the contact with different cultures, opinions, languages, habits Do you have any suggestions how can I join some international circles or meetings or just find new friends from other countries? You can also write to me privately, pennylane@berlin.com. I d like to organize regular meetings between foreigners in Bratislava, where we can discuss common issues or tips for everyday life, work, leisure.. or just enjoy a drink together. Another idea is to organize a language exchange evening once a week. I speak Italian, Slovak, Spanish, French, German, Russian and English and I would like to use my languages or help others to learn them! Anybody interested? The winter will be long.. so let s get organized with some nice group to have fun with Dakujem vopred Penny pennylane@berlin.com |

Hello!
We are 2 students visiting Prague in January. We've taken SkyEurope from Bucharest to Bratislava and from there we will take the train. I wanted to know how much is a round ticket for 2 persons? Also I would like to know how far is the airport from the train station and what is the best (faster) way to get there and also how much it will cost? and what is the timetable? Thanks! |

| Bratislavsky | Bratislava-Vienna: train or bus? Posted: Sat March 18, 2006 07:17 PM UTC
I am considering taking a day trip to Vienna from Bratislava in the summer. Could someone please tell me if it's easier to go by train or bus? Sometimes it's hard to understand the bus timetables and even find the stop, so I wondered if travelling by train might be easier (and quicker). I know the bus is cheaper, but if the train isn't a lot more expensive and is more convienient then I'll get the train. Also, it seems that neither the bus or train stops right in the city centre, but a little outside. Is this correct?

What about one-way ticket from Bratislava to Ljubljana? I am trying to determine what will be less expensive, driving or going by train. I have looked on the www.bahn.de and www.zsr.sk sites, but no pricing info is available.
Thanks! |

| Bratislavsky | (Half)daytrip - what to see? Posted: Tue June 29, 2004 09:58 AM UTC
Hi,
I'm a student planning a daytrip to Bratislava from Budapest by bus and my problem is that I have only 5 hours to look around, since I could find an astonishingly low fare on the condition that my onward and return trips are on the same day. So what should I see? And how can I get to the old town - do I need to take a bus (I can find detailed information on imhd.sk, that would be no problem, I'd just like to know if the old town is within a walking distance from AS Mlynske Nivy or not)? How can I get up to the castle, besides walking, of course(the Hrad, right?)? Is there anything to see in the area behind the castle (Hlavní stanica area)? Thanks for your tips in advance!!! |

What is the cost of a rail ticket if I purchase it on the day? Do I have to queue for hours to buy a ticket? Is it cheaper if I buy the ticket a few days ahead? Has anyone done this trip - any tips? (We are travelling from Budapest - Bratislava - Vienna - Bratislava - Prague). Many thanks for ALL replies!! Chelley xx |

| Bratislavsky | to Interrail or not??? Posted: Fri June 11, 2004 03:00 PM UTC
hi, I'm from Ireland and will be visiting countries such as Czech Rep, Hungary, Poland, Croatia and Slovakia in August for about 2 weeks with my sister.
We need to decide which will work out cheaper - interrailing or buying bus and train tickets as we need them. We want to go to Krakow and Pragus and Budapest and also to take a ferry on the coast of Croatia and also to visit some smaller towns as we go along. I'm not sure of how to convert other currencies but an Interrail ticket is 210 euro for 16 days....this means we a re restricted to trains but maybe it is better to travel by bus in some countries. please help with any suggestions if you could tell us some train journey prices in Euros eg Prague to Krakow or Budapest or something like that. Thanks |

| Bratislavsky | Planning a trip to Bratislava Posted: Sat June 5, 2004 09:02 AM UTC
Hello,
we are a bunch of 11 mates based in London looking for a weekend away from 28 to 30th August in one of the 10 new European capital cities. Bratislava is one of them (I posted the same question in other forums) We are after some tips on - cheapest way to get there from London - average price per night of accommodation (B&B type) and where to stay - average price for food (decent meal not MCDonalds and not the Ritz) and where to eat - average price of a pint and where to socialise - weather at the back end of August - light entertainment (small things to do) many thanks |
