Montpellier Posted: Tue May 22, 2012 11:39 PM UTC
Roughly how much a taxi does charge to get from the Montpellier airport to Lecole Nationale Supagro? or are there any cheaper and convenient ways to reach the destination place, taking into account that I will be carrying a pretty bulky luggage with me. Also I would like to know if there are any budget hotels within the airport to stay overnight, in case my flight arrives at night.
Thank you in advance.

Hvordan finder man ud af, om det er muligt at hyra et hus (gerne simpelt og primitivt) en uge i sommerferien i nærheden af Skruv?

Has anyone done this? Can you do it in one day, or is it too much? Most websites tell you that hikers usually spend the night at the mountain hut, but we don't really want to do that if we don't need to. If you know of any good websites that have this info, that would be great.

Palanga Posted: Tue May 22, 2012 05:57 PM UTC
Hello!

I would like to travel from Palanga to Riga in August. I guess there should be direct buses, but I can't find any schedule. I also need to know if we should buy tickets in advance (a day, a week?) or can do it just before the departure. Can I buy tickets via Internet somehow?

Thanks!

Sorrento Posted: Tue May 22, 2012 05:10 PM UTC
Hi Everyone,
I will be traveling from LA to the Amalfi Coast with my family (5 people), and we want to rent a car and travel down the Amafli Coast.. first of all is this a good idea? Should we fly into Rome, and start driving from there- what is the closest main city we can fly into?

Or should we not rent a car, and take a train there and take bus and taxi services from there?

Also, how should we split up those 5-6 days. I myself am 26, my sisters are 22 and 18 and our parents, so it is definitely not a romantic holiday. We like to hike, discover cute restaurants, go to the beach, and any other advice would be great. Should we stay in Sorrento? Positano, Capri? All 3? or other charming cities you can recommend? Hotels? Anything would be fabulous . Thank you so much!!!!

Hungary Posted: Tue May 22, 2012 01:17 PM UTC
Hello folks,

I am traveling from Brasov, Romania to Budapest in July, so I bought a pair of train tickets from the MAV site. However, apparently I need to be in Hungary to pick up the tickets from a kiosk, which won't help me since I'll need the tickets to even get to Hungary! Is there anyone in Hungary who would be willing to print the tickets out at a kiosk for me and then send them to me in the USA? I will gladly reward anyone who can help me.

This isn't a scam (I don't know how it could be since I'll be giving you MY confirmation code for the tickets). Please let me know if you can help.

Thanks so much!

Grindelwald Posted: Tue May 22, 2012 12:55 PM UTC
Hello all,
I am going to visit Interlaken and Grindelwald coming week for three days with my friends. Our agenda is to visit Jungfrau. I know there are 2 different routes to go up and both are awesome. But I came to know that it is also possible to walk down from Jungfrau (i mean without train). I want to know is it really possible? and how much time would it take? also the travel cost for round-trip through Jungfraujoch is very expensive, so we are thinking to take one-way ticket from Interlaken to Jungfrau and on return walk down ourselves.
Please give your opinion if its possible or not?

regards

Iceland Posted: Tue May 22, 2012 10:56 AM UTC
Hi,

I'm looking for people who are interested in going to Iceland in September to share in a photo tour where we can share the costs, September is a good shoulder season where most tourist have left and the weather is nice with autumn colors and a good chance to see the aurora.

http://icelandaurora.com/tours/

Reviews here:
http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g189970-d1868462-Reviews-Iceland_Aurora_Photo_Tours-Reykjavik.html

I think the photos and reviews speak for themselves but this is a very flexible and well planned tour that is designed to help you get the best shots at the best time and places. It's mainly focused on photography, the price is per tour and is a great value when shared between 2-4 people.

Please let me know if you're interested as I need to finalize dates for my airfares

Thanks

Trieste Posted: Tue May 22, 2012 06:24 AM UTC
We will hire a car and travel around Slovenia. I notice that Trieste is very nearby Divaca, Skojcan caves (which we are going to visit) and we very much like to go to visit Trieste as well. Can any VT member advise me which international border check-points should I pass through (as it seems on the map that there are different routes between the 2 cities) and are the check-points opened 24 hours? We intend to depart from Ljubljana and visit Skojcan Caves and Trieste and return to Ljubljana within the same day. Is my schedule feasible and is it too tight? Any advice/information is welcomed.

Larnaca Posted: Tue May 22, 2012 05:59 AM UTC
Hey, I'll be in Larnaca for two days, June 21 & 22, there are a few things in Larnaca I have planned but my flight to Cairo is not until 7pm my last day so I am trying to decide between the UNESCO Painted Churches, the UNESCO Choirokoitia or maybe even Nicosia or Ayai Napa.I don't think I will have time to do any type of organized tour with the time restraint unless I do it my first day. Any suggestions or even other alternatives are welcomed. Or should I just stay at the beach and wander around Larnaca?

Reykjavík Posted: Tue May 22, 2012 01:56 AM UTC
Someone kindly advise me as I was told by the airline that my arrival time for my coming vacation with my family of 5 is change from 20.55 to 23.40. We will arrive at Keflavik International airporton the 2nd June. Should I overnight at the city Keflavik and travel to Reykjavik the next morning? I had planned to go for the Golden circle tour as it was a sunday. I have tried to search for tour agent around Keflavik. But could not find any. The only one are from the airport. we were thinking to replan our tour. Thinking of stay at the city Keflavik for 2 nights and then to Reykjavik for another 3 nights. Does it mean that I need to travel back to airport to take the tour? Do you have any idea if I stay in Keflavik, is it difficult to take day tour? As we are travelling with 2 young children, we hope to give them a good experience of iceland. Hope to get advise from you guys. Thank you.

Iceland Posted: Tue May 22, 2012 01:48 AM UTC
Hello all! My wife and I are coming to Iceland the last week of August for 10 days/9 nights (23 August - 1 September) for our honeymoon, and we've hit the point where we essentially know what we'd like to do but also the point where we've completely overwhelmed with WHEN and HOW to do everything. We'd love some help figuring out just how to fit all the pieces together.

I believe we basically have the first 2 - 3 days figured out, with the following being our thinking:

Day 1: land early morning -> get rental car -> Blue Lagoon plus some Keflavik/Reykjavik sightseeing -> crash early
Day 2: Do a slow drive version of the Golden Circle -> late night Reykjavik scene
Day 3: Start driving... where?!?!

It's at day three that we lose the plot. Our initial thought was to use Reykjavik as a base and make day trip ventures into the interior, but after reading a lot of threads here, we're now starting to wonder whether we should use the next week to make a slow circuit of the country along the ring road, spending a few of nights and stopping along the way.

Here's basically what we know what we would like to do:

1) Whale watching/Rafting/snorkeling/ATV trips: We're looking at Arctic Adventures for most of the organized tour things. Are they well considered, and/or are there any other groups to use? They also seem to be mostly out of Reykjavik. If we're heading out into the rest of the country, what groups should we be looking at?

2) Hiking: we're looking to spend a lot of time just hiking around and soaking in the landscape. We're not advanced athletes but can put in pretty long hikes. The biggest issue would be altitude; specifically above ~2500 meters for the first 3/4 days for my wife.

3) Star gazing: I know this one sounds odd, but from looking at the sunrise/sunset chart here (http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/astronomy.html?n=211&month=8&year=2012&obj=sun&afl=-11&day=1), it looks like the gap between sunset and sunrise is a good 8.5 hours, which should leave a ~5 hours of true darkness? We have no expectations of seeing Aurora Borealis, but just getting out of civilization and enjoying a clear dark night should be possible after midnight, yes? Are there any astronomy groups (amateur or not) that meet with telescopes for this and would welcome strangers?

4) I'm big into history, archeology, paleontology and the like, so anything with particular significance in these areas would be wonderful to spend time with.

5) Deep sea fishing?

6) Glacier/volcano hiking/general sightseeing?

7) Maybe take a couple days to travel to Greenland? A lot of the trips there seem to be either for one day - which seems to short a time to appreciate the trip - or 3 days - which may be too much time considering everything else we want to do. Are there any 2 day/1 night trips there that anyone can recommend as worth it?

We're the type of people who would, except for the things that require organized tours like whale watching and rafting, would prefer to do things on our own, at our own pace. We're basically looking for guidance as to what to do in the interior of the country/along the Ring Road, how long to stay in each town, and the like. Also, I realize we're pretty late as far as organizing lodging, so suggestions there would be wonderful too.

Thanks in advance!

Spain Posted: Tue May 22, 2012 12:34 AM UTC
Hi everyone,
I will spend 2 weeks in Malaga in July and will try to explore city and Andalucia whenever it will be possible during my stay in Malaga.
My first question would be: as a sports journalist, should I bring my press card? Will I get any discount or maybe even free entry to any museum, castle etc. in Malaga or other Andalucian cities?
I will have 3 or 4 days for full day trips, should I use it only for well known cities like Granada, Cordoba or Seville or there is any hidden gem?
I love countryside. So, I will also rent mountain bike and ride it outside city looking for landscapes. Are there any villages not far away from Malaga (~20-30 km) where I could go with mountain bike? And nature in general, not only villages of course.
Thanks

Venice Posted: Mon May 21, 2012 06:39 PM UTC
Hi,

My name is Ankesh , I am coming to Venice on 9th June and will return on 10th June. I have few questions listed below :-

1) I am in city for nearly 36 hours , I will reach Venice at Marco Polo Airport, So what would be the best way for exploring Venice by public transport. Should I take 36 hours ACTV Card or 3 Days youth card (18 Euro)with Rolling Venice(4 Euro)
and take return back to hotel Marco Polo ??
2) What is the best location to take hotel in budget which is near to the main places to go around Venice or either it is connected to public transport?
3) What are the other areas in the outskirts of Venice that is worth going ?

Thanks
