Help !!! where can I have a cartouche made in Alex. Posted: Sun November 8, 2009 06:02 PM UTC
Hi - i hope someone can help.
I would like to have a small gold cartouche made for my mum with my dads name in hieroglyphincs in it. I would like to place an order for it now and pay and collect it when we visit Alex. in january as a surprise for her.
I have seen sites for this in the Cairo area but none in Alex.
Is it possible for this to be done- does anyone know of any web sites for Alex.
I am only there for 1 day and so would like to have this arranged in advance.
Many thanks Elaine

Beijing city to airport distance Posted: Sun November 8, 2009 05:55 PM UTC
A quick question:
I have two options for a flight from Beijing to Guangzhou:
Option-1: 1pm departure from Beijing airport
Option-2: 3pm departure from Beijing airport
Questions:
=========
1) How long does it take from Beijing city to Beijing airport, and how can I get there (train or bus - I guess taxi will be expensive?)
2) How long do I need to be at the Beijing airport before flight departure, for a flight to Guangzhou
I am trying to work out whether to take the 1pm or 3pm flight - and don't want to be getting up too early to get to the airport, and at the same time would like to get to Guangzhou early so I can spend some time on that day in Guangzhou
Please advice, thanks

Transportation to the train Posted: Sun November 8, 2009 05:31 PM UTC
The best train connection going to Milan leaves Arles at 5:08 a.m. We will be staying at the Hotel Regency which only a few blocks from the train station. My question is how do we get to the train station at 4:00 a.m.?

Beach and some more Posted: Sun November 8, 2009 04:51 PM UTC
We are four grown women who likes to go on vacation together, even tough we don't really look for the same kind of vacation.
One would gladly spend the entire vacation at the beach, working on her tan. One (me) is more into gathering memories in nature, villages, cities, historical sites and so on. The two others like a bit of each. We prefer to rent an apartment in a quiet neighbourhood and have easy access to public transport.
We're not into partying but love two share a meal at a decent restaurant, in the evenings.
This summer we stayed in Levanto (Liguria, Italy) and it was perfect! Now we're looking for something similar for 10-14 days, next summer.
Any suggestions?
(This will be posted in several Southern-Europe Forums)
Looking forward to your replies. Thanks!

A day in Canterbury Posted: Sun November 8, 2009 03:40 PM UTC
Hello, My friend and I are planning a day in Canterbury as my friend is very interested in the "Canterbury Tales" by Geoffrey Chaucer.
We are travelling by train and would like to have some recommnedations on good places to eat (our lunch) as well as exploring the city.
We are planning to see the Cathedral but would like to know more about the Chaucer trail and the history.
Our local bookshops didn't yield any copies of either the book or the film except for modern interpretations.
As my nephew is studying at the university we are hoping he can guide us in the city.

Beijing / Guangzhou Itinerary Posted: Sun November 8, 2009 01:39 PM UTC
Hi experienced travellers / locals,
In my first time visit to China, I have put together the following itinerary.
Can you please advice me if this is a good itinerary and would you add/subtract from it, and pls. suggest must-do's and places to visit:
1) Arrive Beijing at 10pm on 24/March (STAY IN BEIJING FOR 3 days)
2) FLY Beijing to Guangzhou on 27/March at 7pm (STAY IN GUANGZHOU FOR 2 DAYS)
3) Train from Guangzhou to Hong Kong on 29/March at 6pm (STAY IN HK FOR 1 day)
4) Train from HK to Guangzhou on 31/March at 7am and Fly Guangzhou to Tokyo same day at 2pm
Questions:
=========
1) What are must-dos in Beijing?
2) Suggested Nighlight / Clubs House-Music in Beijing - is it safe to go alone?
3) What are must-dos in Guangzhou - I would like to visit Electronics markets?
4) Are two days in Guangzhou enough?
Thanks a lot,

from Puntas Arenas to El Calafate (with a stop in TDP) Posted: Sun November 8, 2009 01:18 PM UTC
Hi,
We would be arriving from a cruise in Puntas Arenas on a Tuesday (11:30 am).
We would like to spend the next day (Wednesday) in Torres del Paine but then going at night to El Calafate instead of coming back to Puerto Natales, then spending Thursday and Friday in El Calafate.
1/ Do you have any tips on car rental from Puntas Arenas to El Calafate (I have read that it might be difficult and expensive)
2/If not do you know any agencies that would organise a one day tour in TDP starting from Puerto Natales and leaving you in El Calafate ?
3/If not any other tips to go directly from TDP to El Calafate ?
Thanks in advance for your help.

My wife and I have booked a flight from November 11th to the 18th and are wondering if we will be able to travel around the island at all by public transport? We have not yet booked any accomodation but hope to find a low priced apartment where we can do some good walks from. Any ideas on location would be most appreciated.

Train services / Hotel / Place of interest Posted: Sun November 8, 2009 04:45 AM UTC
Hi all,
I am a first timer to Europe. Am landing in Amsterdam in Nov for a business cum sightseeing trip that would take me to Cologne as well. I intend to spend 4 days each in Cologne and Amsterdam. Grateful if any one could offer some advise on the following :-
1. How do I get to the main train station in Amsterdam that connects to Cologne from the airport ( in shortest time & cost effective) ? I intend to take the "ICE" BaHN train. PLS also advise the name of the train station that I need to quote in case I need to ask around.
2. Would the price for the train ticket similar or slighty higher if I would to purchase at the train station Vs on the net ?
2. Names of hotels in Amsterdam that are near shopping places and pubs. Approx budget is around 100-120USD ( 70-90 Euro )
3. Since I have 4 days on sightseeing in Amsterdam, appreciate if anyone can advise of some places of interest? I am interested in natural scenery.
AS time is running out on myside, I would be extremely grateful if I could secure the advise ASAP.
Thank you.

arriving at 11:40PM Posted: Sun November 8, 2009 02:49 AM UTC
I'm arriving with a 5-yr old kid and my husband on the 14th. I want to check-in on hotels/inns which are one ride away from the airport. We will be staying for a few hours then go to our real destination which is Cainta in the morning. Any suggestions for inns near there? We are traveling with a tight budget. Pls recommend good but affordable inns/lodges.
