Australia and Oceania Cut Price Car Rental Australia
Posted: Thu January 8, 2009 06:38 AM UTC
Have you had appalling service with cut price car rentals?

I have had the worst customer service with cut price car rentals. The operators hung up on me numerous times as I queried the amount they took from my credit card. They overcharged us, and the owner would not respond to any of our emails. The company have overcharged us. will not give us back our money, and have been extremely difficult to deal with. i have spoken to other travelers who have dealt with cut price car rentals and they have also received shocking service. Important advise, DO NOT BOOK YOUR RENTAL CAR WITH CUT PRICE CAR RENTALS - AUSTRALIA!. YOU WILL END UP VERY DISAPPOINTED AND CHEATED.

Milan Getting from Milan Palpensa Airport to Milan C. LE Train Station
Posted: Thu January 8, 2009 05:43 AM UTC
Hello,
We are flying in to Milan Malpensa airport and want to take a train to Vernazza in the Cinque Terre. How easy is it to get from the airport to the Milan C. LE train station and how far away is it from the airport? We're looking at the TrenItalia website and are having trouble figuring out the schedule. Thank you.

Zimbabwe Safe to travel to Zimbabwe?
Posted: Thu January 8, 2009 05:40 AM UTC
I am looking to travel to Africa in August 2009. I am interested in doing a wildlife safari tour and would love to go to some of the places in Zimbabwe, however i know that it might not be a safe place to travel right now.

If i go in an escorted group tour will it still be very unsafe?

Thanks!

London Heathrow or Luton Airport?
Posted: Thu January 8, 2009 04:54 AM UTC
During our trip to London we will stay in SW11 area. Now we select flight to come to London and the question is the airport we want to land on. Heathrow is an obvious choice for proximity, but tickets to Luton are about 50% cheaper. My question: if we would like to take taxi, how long would it take from Heathrow and how long from Luton? Would there be a significant difference between peak and off-peak times?

Thailand Chang Mai what to do where to stay
Posted: Thu January 8, 2009 04:34 AM UTC
Family of 4 looking for suggestions for Chang Mai.

I have set aside 4 -5 days for this area.

a couple of things I was considering was an elephant interaction, something like a trek on elephant back through the jungle, visit some northern tribes. specifically i would like to see the long neck tribe (not sure if that what they are actually called)

other than those two things I am very open to suggestions or ideas.

Montreal RE: Visit to Montreal & Ottawa
Posted: Thu January 8, 2009 04:17 AM UTC
I will be visiting Montreal & Ottawa in July (1st week). I will be flying to Montreal airport and flying out of Ottawa.

Hence I need transportation - going from Montreal to Ottawa (I suppose driving i am not sure)

My question --

Should I rent a car for the whole week? I checked on Orbitz and car will cost me 600USD for a week?

Or should I just use CAB (Montreal airport - Montreal Downtown)
and then Rent 1 time car (1 day) to travel (Montreal - Ottawa)
and then use a CAB (Ottawa Downtown - Ottawa Airport)

reason why I am asking this is I was wondering If I want to see both cities do I need a car? or their is ample public transportation? I was thinking of saving few buck by not renting a car for the whole week. I read few post that Parking is not free in either cities and I will be spending roughly 10 USD a day for parking.

Please guide..

Thanks

Europe Please help pick my honeymoon itinerary...
Posted: Thu January 8, 2009 03:58 AM UTC
We've narrowed down our Honeymoon next October to 3 possible options. I was hoping for some great input from those of you familiar with the regions I'll mention as well as your vote for which would be the best choice as well as any pro's and con's, opinions and suggestions. We want to start making arrangements next week, but are completely unable to make up our minds!!!!! We are not looking for crazy nightlife and a huge party scene, but rather just a nice relaxing, laid back sightseeing excursion with opportunities to take in the local cultures, history and atmosphere. We are both fans of the medieval cities and villages and my wife also loves castles. This will be our first time you Europe and are thoroughly confused.... Anyway, I'll list what we had in mind and you guys can fill me in on what you think! thanks!

OPTION 1:
-5 nights in Prague, with some possible day trips by car (Cesky Krumlov) and any other suggestions...
-5 nights in Germany (we are looking at the Bavaria region). We have yet to make up our mind as to where we will stay between Munich, Regensburg, Rothenberg, Nuremberg....(suggestions?) with daytrips to any of the aforementioned places plus a possible day in Salzburg, Austria.

Option 2:
-5 nights in Salzburg, Austria w/ approx two daytrips by car (suggestions?)
-5 nights in Germany (Bavaria, as listed above) w/ possible day trips.

Option 3:
-4 nights in Brussels w/ trip to Paris and possible daytrip by car
-6 nights in Bruges w/ some day-trips to any of the following: Ghent, Antwerp, Damme, Amsterdam

With this in mind, please tell me which of the 3 options you would pick if you were planning! It will help tremendously!

Paris Hotel In Paris
Posted: Thu January 8, 2009 03:29 AM UTC
I'm looking for a reasonably priced hotel (about 70 - 90 euros for a double room) that's close to the center of paris? However, I don't want a shady neighbourhood, so I don't mind being a short cab ride away from the major sites. I've looked on travel booking websites and most hotels in this price range receive a range of reviews. One hotel I was looking at was the Hotel Cervantes. The location is good however, people complain about the excessive noise from the train station adjacent to it. Are there any other hotels you can recommend? Thanks

North Carolina Appalachia Road Trip
Posted: Thu January 8, 2009 02:44 AM UTC
My wife and I are planning to drive from Washington DC to Charleston in May, by way of the Smokies through the smallest backroads and towns possible. I love mountain music and lost valleys, ruined farms and haunted places. I can find the motels and state parks on my own, anyone care to give me some local wisdom? As we will cross Virginia, Tennesee, and maybe South Carolina on our way, any advice from those states is much appreciated.

Europe LODI2
Posted: Thu January 8, 2009 02:35 AM UTC
In June 2009, I would like to take a train from Bar to Istanbul. Would it be best to travel from Bar to Belgrade to Istanbul or from Bar to Nish to Sofia to Istanbul? How difficult is it to obtain tickets and obtain a sleeper couchette? What are the train schedules and costs?

Any advice that you can provide would be helpful.

Thanks,

Basel Basel as base for 4 nights
Posted: Thu January 8, 2009 01:16 AM UTC
Hi, Driving from Munich to Basel and keep Basel as base for visiting Luzern, Zurich, Interlaken etc. Hotels around Basel seem a little more reasonable compared to Zurich. Some good hotel deals also showing up across the border in France.

Any other options for reasonable hotels/B&Bs ... how are border check points if staying in France(US passport)?

Thanks in advance!

Harbin Urgent responses required!!!!!!!!!!
Posted: Thu January 8, 2009 12:37 AM UTC
Hi!!!

I am leaving for China tomorrow! (so excited!)

If anyone can help me that would be great!

My husband and I will be in Harbin on the 10th, I need to know how easy it is at the airport? The whole time we are in China we will be picked up at all the airports and taken to our hotels by the tour company, but in Harbin we will be on our own.

We will have to make it from the airport to our hotel and then back again.

According to my itinerary, they advise to be at the airport 2 hours before the flight back to Beijing... is this true?

Do they really not queue over there?

Glacier National Park Possibly visiting in early May
Posted: Thu January 8, 2009 12:33 AM UTC
Is Glacier Nat'l Park worth seeing in early May for a day or 2? Traditionally I would assume there is still to much snow to do much around there. Where's the nearest place to stay the first week of May? Any info would be great.

Europe First time flight Brisbane Australia- Rome, Italy
Posted: Wed January 7, 2009 11:13 PM UTC
I'm in the early stages of planning our fly-cruise-saty holiday for June 2010. Recently we experienced our first international flight, a short 8 hrs to Papeete, Tahiti. My husband found the seats most uncomfortable for that length of time, plus we couldn't sleep etc. We are considering business class seats for our flight Brisbane-Rome. The cost is 3-4 times more than economy. So my questions:
1.Can the extra $$ outlaid be justified for ones comfort level?
2.Are any airlines better than others for business class?
3.Is it better to have more than 1 stopover to stretch legs etc.
4.Are you allowed to smoke during those 4-6 hr refuelling stops?
5. Do you get off the aircraft but remain in the terminal during these breaks?
Thanks for your replies.

Just curious what the apartment rental costs in the old city is for say, a nice apartment with a nice view of 60-70 square meters as well as one that is 90-100 square meters?

Are there any English-friendly websites commonly used to find an apartment in Vilnius?

Newark Newark to Newhaven (CT) by road
Posted: Wed January 7, 2009 09:48 PM UTC
I'd be very grateful if someone could give me help regarding the car journey from Newark to Newhaven. We will arrive from the UK and would prefer a scenic journey that isn't heavy with traffic, if that's possible. Driving on the opposite side of the road from our norm will be difficult enough.
Thank you in advance for any guidance.
