What do you mean - don't look like an American? My husband and I are visiting in 3 weeks. We will be staying at the Portmarnock Hotel & Golf Links. Is there a bus that takes you to the city from there? We are Irish Americans.

| Turkey | Current YTL Rates Posted: Fri July 25, 2008 07:34 PM UTC
Merhaba,
I'm off to Turkey on Monday and am curious about the current rate of YTL against the GB Pound. It is fairly low in UK and so I have decided not to change any money before I go, hoping that the banks will beat the UK rates... we shall see ;o) |

| Pompeii | Storage for luggage in Pompei? Posted: Fri July 25, 2008 07:16 PM UTC
I'm spending 8 days in the Amalfi Coast and would like to visit Pompei. Since I'm flying into Naples on a Sunday morning, I thought it would make the most sense to visit Pompei that day since I'll already be in Naples. Is there a place to store luggage in Pompei? If not, can anyone recommend which town it is easiest to get to Pompei from? Positano, Capri, or Ravello?

| Las Vegas | Vegas for beginners Posted: Fri July 25, 2008 07:16 PM UTC
My BF and I plan to travel to Las Vegas sometime in the late fall/winter, we have not booked our trip. Never been there before, a few general questions come up:
1. We are going for at least 4 days, can extend the trip up to a full week. Should we stick with just Vegas or split the trip and do 4-5 days in Vegas and also do 1-3 days on a side trip to Hoover Dam/Grand Canyon, etc.? (Would this be trying to do too many things at once?) 2. What hotels are drop-dead the absolute must to stay in for first-timers? We are open to doing all our stay at one hotel or splitting amongst 2-3 hotels for a couple nights each. We want to max out our experience while there. 3. My parents insist we see a Cirque du Soliel show while there. I see there are a few of them running simultaneously. What's the best Cirque du Soliel show for beginners that will give us the best first-time experience? Thanks! |

| Saint Louis | Hotel Near the Arch Posted: Fri July 25, 2008 06:32 PM UTC
Hi, my husband and I are planning a quick anniversary trip to the St Louis area in September. Is there a decent hotel that anyone would recommend under $100/night? We don't need fabulous service, but no where that I would fear my car being broken into. Looking for bar/restaurant; 24 hour desk service... pretty much 3 star but I know 2 star can be just as accommodating. We are willing to stay in suburbs as well...

How long does it take to drive from the town of Banff to the Columbia Icefields (where we would take the tour from)? Is it more of a half-day trip or a full day thing?

| Mintaqat al Madinah | Forbidden zone in Madinah for non-muslims Posted: Fri July 25, 2008 06:16 PM UTC
Greetings!
Does anyone know is there a Madinah map somewhere available in the web where clearly are marked borders of forbidden zone for non-muslims? As fas as I know, forbidden zone is historical center of the city (including Prophet's Mosque) but not the whole city. The same question about map of Makkah with clearly marked such borders. As far as I know, it's not just Makkah city limits but much more. Any suggestions appreciated, Nils |

| Egypt | extra day in Luxor or Alexandria Posted: Fri July 25, 2008 05:29 PM UTC
Hi.
I'm spending 5 days in Egypt as part of our honeymoon vacation. We are planning 2 days in Cairo, 1 in Giza/Saqqara, and 1 in Luxor. For the 5th day, we figure we don't have enough time for Sinai and Aswan/Abu Simbel. That leaves a day trip to Alexandria or an extra day in Luxor. Any advice? Thanks very much, Aleksey |

3 of us will be in Dublin for 3 days in November. We just need basic accomodations, but would like to spend some time wandering the city, and other days out in the countryside. We need suggestions on where to stay that will give us inexpensive, in suite, preferably breakfast included accomodations. Please, any advice? Thanks-

| Barcelona | Hotel near port Posted: Fri July 25, 2008 04:39 PM UTC
A friend and I will be in Barcelona for 2 days, 1 night in Nov. Can anyone recommend a resonably priced hotel near the port where cruise ships depart? Which section of the city is that in? Would we be better off staying in another section of the city to sight see, and then taking a taxi to the port? Thanks for all your advice-

| Rome | Trains Posted: Fri July 25, 2008 03:54 PM UTC
I just read a thread on trains in Italy and need further learned opinions that would apply to my situation. We're from Montreal and will be landing in Rome next wednesday. We're so excited and we can't wait, but that's besides the point. After 6 days in Rome We're planning to take the train to Sorrento spend 4 days there, then a train to Florence (3 days there) and off to Rome's Airport(by train again)to catch our flight to Warsaw.
We have all our hotels and apartment reservations done and dealt with. My question is: when do we buy the train tickets. A couple days before leaving Rome or on the spot when at the stations at time of departure? Or do I buy them all at once, or when we arrive in Sorrento for the Florence leg of the trip and when we arrive in Florence for Rome airport? Thank you in advance |

My wife and I plan to spend 2 nights in Paris in late April or very early May of 2009. This will be a side trip from our annual visit to Maastricht. We are in hopes of finding a budget price room (50-75Euro)located in the St Germain or Latin Quarter. I would appreciate some advice. Thanks in advance.

| Auckland | The Voodoo lounge!! Posted: Fri July 25, 2008 03:26 PM UTC
not really a question, but, if your reading this and staying in central Auckland tonight you have to go to the voodoo lounge just off of Queen St, if you like a good night out and waking up in the morning without any hearing left! then you must visit the voodoo!! i don't work for them or gain any commission but, talking from experience, (and being thrown out) it is the best all night out in Auckland, trust me, you'll love it!!
P.S. just don't try and make out with the skeletons! |
