Brussels Autumn Rendez-Vous, what do you say?
Posted: Tue September 14, 2004 08:53 AM UTC
Hello all:

Thought I would give this a try. I'm apparently a novice in this but it seems fascinating meeting up other VTers!

I'll land on Brussels on October 9th (Sat) around 9am. Will be staying at the center of Brussels (this is what I'm told). Anyone fancy meeting up later in the evening or on the 10th (Sun)?

Would be great to hear from you :-)

Cheers,
V

Not sure what is on my agenda yet but meeting on an evening is not possible seen the distance to travel and the schedule of trains going back.
Maybe Sunday might... let's see what the Brussels's gang does ? `-)

hey Brussels wake up !

Don't worry, the Brussels's gang is a bit slow these days....;-)

What about the 3th in the afternoon, I'm in Brussels anyway that day. And there will be free transport back to Antwerp late in the evening...;-)

Peter, the Antwerp gang is a bit slow too! I now see you already put the afternoon of the 3rd as a suggestion :)
Sorry had a very sleep provoking conference this afternoon and I think I was not fully awake yet!

I'm bookmarking this.

The Limburg China one person gang -lol- was awake early.

Well see some of you on the Biesebosch meeting and hopefully I can make it to this Brussels meeting.

Alain, you got a full week to recover from the canoe meeting :)
So there is a chance you are still "home" on the 3rd?

Yes there is.

And if I go back around the 8 or 10e I hope to stay for 3 weeks, then I can fly together with Imelda back to Belgium.

I can say that saves me a trip to the airport, -lol- but that is not the reason.

But back to Brussels, there is a big chance I'm still in Belgium.

hello all,

bookmarking.
I'll see what's possible as my schedule is rather tight and very unpredictable, these days.
I am not even sure to be in Brussels at that period.

Greets from.... Brussels (at least, currently :-) )

Hello all :-)!

Thank you for all the co-ordination work! A brief update on my latest plan - I'll land in Brussels in the morning of Oct 2nd like I mentioned. Have to make it to Nijmegen in the evening and will stay there for a night. Come back to Brussels the next morning - will find out when the earliest train back to Brussels from Nijmegen is this weekend. And then we can meet up for brunch :-)!!!!

I'll be staying at the Etterbeek area.

Nijmegen?!!
woww that is quite a trip!
You go by train? There are 3 stations called "Nijmegen and something" so I tried them all and the time to drive back to Brussels Centraal varies between 3:30 and 3:45 hours!
So the earliest train that you can take will bring you back the earliest something past noon.
I would suggest you best take your lunch with you to eat on the train and we meet up with you in the early afternoon? You need to go to your hotel first?
Check the trainschedule (I tried http://www.nmbs.be then International )
or try to copy and paste this complete link:
http://plannerint.b-rail.be/bin/query.exe/nn?L=b-rail&S=Nijmegen&Z=Brussel%20centraal&Date=003.10.04&Time=007:20&Timesel=depart&ViaName=&ViaMode=NEE&;DateMode=ANDERS&PLANNER=TRUE
(if that is still available)
Let us know when you think you can make it to the station or the Market. Do you have a mobile to exchange numbers?
I will add this date on the meetings calendar? so it is easy to exchange info needed?

Been massively tied up and busy, sorry.

Not sure about the trip right now- won't know about the job for a couple of weeks, so looking doubtful, but, may happen.

Hey, thanks! :-) Yeah, I know that's quite a long trip to Nijmegen. I'm there for a dancing marathon :-) - at least I plan to do so. I'll send you my train schedule towards the end of this week. I do have a number: 6128 9060 - it's a HK mobile number which also works overseas. I'm not sure if you can just dial my number directly or have to add HK's area code (852).

Ah, I'm overwhelemed! I read so a lot about Brussels and surrouding cities and there are so a lot to do. It's hard to start planning plus workkkkkkk has got me all tied up!

I'll please you updated regarding my plans!

Thanks Irisbe, if I don't make it this time, I still intend to get to Brussels sooner or later- I like Belgium a lot.

Virginia, it's not usually a good idea to put your phone no out openly. Oops.

Dancing marathon? Wow. Good luck, Jem

Hi V,
Norali sent me the link with this forum discussion... are you going to Nijmegen for the tango chained salon??? I would like to know more about your plans! I live in Brussels and would like to go too but still have to arrange it (if my tango friends want to come too). (I wrote infos about Nijmegen on my pages, if you want to check out). During the 2 past years, I used to go there almost every month, by train or by car. From Brussels, it takes about 3h (direction Amsterdam and then change in Rosendaal).

Hope to hear from you soon
