Re: 4 days in iceland...go north or south??? Posted: Sat September 11, 2004 09:33 AM UTC
I'm leaving for iceland tomorrow for 4 days. My current itinerary is to spend a day in rejk, a day at the blue lagoon, and a day doing the golden circle (golfoss, geysir etc.)
What do people recommend for my 4th day? I plan to rent a car and am debating 1) driving north to the Snaelfellsness peninsula/borgarnes or 2) driving south to Vik / skogar / Skaftafell... which trip would you do if you could only do 1??
Hi there, That's a difficult one. We went last May for roughly the same amount of time. We gave one day to Golden Circle, One day to Vik, One day to Snaelfellsness Peninsula (this was a long drive but worth it). . I agree if you can do it you are better to do both Vik and Snaelfellsness Peninsula as they are both very different and do Blue Lagoon early in the morning or late at night as it really won't take that much of your day. See we didn't do the Rejk for the day. Vik has much more things to break your journey up on the way like Skofoss and tip of Myrdals-jokull (glacier) which was easy to get through from the road and i totally recommend. The road to Vik is easier to drive as well as it's route 1 main highway and therefore is a shorter journey. They are very different it's a tough call! My boyfriend says Vik. I am undecided.
