I'm gonna book a trip to N. Korea tomorrow, it's for Sep 30- Oct 7. What's the most up to date site to check for travel warning and stuff?
Thanks. |

Just checked what the swiss gouvernment says about this. Very interesting indeed.
Here it is: (sorry for the translation), hope it helps. In North Korea only guided and through the national Travel agency organisated journeys are possible. Travellers are always accompagnied and surveyed. Security problems are therefore almost nonexistent. You are advised to strictly follow the directions of the Tour operator. Stay away from political discussions. It is forbidden to photograph people in uniforms, military buildings and public buildings (airports, bridges etc.), Brücken usw.) ... It is not allowed for foreigner to drive a car by themselves.

Hi -
the UK government has a page here: http://www.fco.gov.uk/servlet/Front?pagename=OpenM (look for Travel Advice on http://www.fco.gov.uk/ if that link doesn't work for you). Apparently you have to leave your mobile phone with Customs if you take one - you can reclaim it on the way back... Cheers, Jeremy

Thanks! So I'll be away without my cellphone for 8 days. Ahhhh that's torturing! But I'll live :)
Paul, I'll definitely tell you all about it once I get back(if I ever go of course).

working in tourism i get travel warnings sent to me whenever somethings happen around the world.
there are no current travel warnings against north korea at the moment. just be prepared for a country that is very very different. also it is still an oldfahioned communist regime, so there will be lots of restrictions on what you can do. i would say you should certainly go. its one of the few places where you can go without having the lonely planet tourists all over the place. that is almost an attraction in itself.

Comprehensive information about travel in North Korea can be found on the British Foreign Office website (www.fco.gov.uk/travel) by clicking on Travel Advice and North Korea.
