Any ideas on the cheapest ways to get from Buenos Aires to Salta? Am looking to leave on a thursday night and return by monday morning or afternoon...

Cheapest way is by bus (sleeper), they are quite comforable. Bit it takes like 16 hours...

Given your itinerary, you'd better fly. Domestic flights are relatively inexpensive, even for non-residents. See http://www.aerolineas.com.ar/ for flight schedules and prices.
