Lahore Travel Forum

I will be staying in Lahore for a month in december/january. I am looking for an apartment/condo to rent while I am there. There is little information online....can someone direct me to where I maybe able to contact someone? Thanks

Another option is that you first get to Lahore , may be stay ina hotel etc for a day or two and find out about a few Estate Agents ,call them up and let them know of your preferences and then you should go and check out all the houses that suits you with them and then you rent the one you like . Thats how it is done over here .

You have already seen that theres not much you can find or do online about that ,and another problem is that most of the times they dont have websites online and most of the times you cant pay online . You have to be present in person to pay and pay preferrably cash or check or if you could make an electronic transfer from your bank abroad to here and then pay them .

Hope that helps a little . I dont live in Lahore so cant help you more with it .

Thanks for your help guys.....I have had someone recently also tell me to stay a couple of days in a hotel to find something, but I would worry I would not be able to find anything and be stuck. Since I am a student and traveling on my own dollar I don't have a lot of money to take a chance like that. I will check that out though. As far as payment, yes, I knew cash would be the best way, and I have a couple of options. I have someone over there who can take the money or I can arrange to pay when I get there, that is no problem.

greetings i'm form the U.S, i have been here for a year visiting, finding a place takes some time and if agents find out your from aboard and you dont know whats up they may tripple charge on everything, if you a cool person you can chill with me for a few days. ( dont worry about lauandry etc.) and if you wish I can help you find your own place at a hotel, youth hostel, or rooms for rent, Further i can give a good site seeing allowed the short time you are going to be visiting. Dont worry about it..... while in lahore.

And Though i have no idea how youve survived here for such a long time (LOL)..:).... considering the fact that Pakistan is a different country and we have a different culture etc than yours, and the people and everything is just different ..if you know what i mean.. . But i hope it hasnt been such a rough ride . We are not those big DARK-EYED & GREEN SKINNED ALIENS , like most of the poeple in the West 'think' we are ( (But then i just think they just need to get their facts straight...:)...) . We are just different in the way we look and the way we lead our lives here . But we are just like the rest of the people on this Planet Earth . Deep down, We are all the same. Okay, so, I know no one means any harm......but I feel I should clear up some misconceptions people have about the misconceptions people in the west have about those in the east. THere are MANY MANY indian/paki communities in america, and it's not that the people here think anyone is some "alien" or "not normal" or anything like that, which may not have been your exact point. Really, it's not that they don't think you are human (granted, they dont' know the difference b/w Indian and paki......but I don't half the time either. Frankly, it's not that the people here don't know about the people from the east......they are just ignorant of the situations politically in that part of the world. Quite frankly, so am I half the time. I was a competitive debater and did HOURS UPON HOURS of research and still couldn't get a true grasp of any political system, including our own here in the states. Really, I am just asking that you guys give the u.s. a little more credit. We aren't perfect and our government isn't exacally deserving of some sort of gold metal for being diplomatic sometimes, but over all, we are decent people.......except our press....they suck....and that's where I think you get a lot of your understanding in the east about the west.

I know this is long and perhaps you didn't read the whole thing (I understand), but just know this.....I will not be a representative of all of u.s. just as visiting pakistan will not tell me about ALL of paki people. It comes down to individuals....and that's how we are going to live in this world. Stop focusing so much on religion/race/nationality/and skin color......rather just meet who we can however we can and be thankful for indivuduals with their own ideas/priorities/and attributes.

I Know all these misunderstandings are becos of the misleading media . I have to say one thing here , i do not usually talk about stuff like that and politics ,becos the part of the world i live in , most of the people still dont get the point that it shouldnt matter what somebody's faith or color of skin etc is . Im not really interested in politics etc . I dont really even talk or discuss anything related to that . I always avoid getting into a political discussion . Cos i know its gets you nowhere . People everywhere needs to learn to respect everyone in the world ..doesnt matter what their religion or skin color is ..doesnt matter if they are different from themselves....that in the end we all deserve respect.And yes, i didnt mean it in a negative way,just that i have gotton that sense from people at times . Just that ive come across foreigners around here in real life ,and ive read things etc that told me that many people in the west just "dont know" about how things are or people are in other parts of the world or this part of the world . And thats what i was trying to say that they dont know , and that may be they should try and educate themselves more about other people and countries and accept the differences . I dont hate people in the west . yes, I understand you completely. And, that wasn't made just for you, b/c if so I would have emailed you.....it was just it's a reacurring theme. Every paki I meet, here or there wants me to come to pakistan, see how great it is, then convnice all of american to like pakistan (a bit of an exageration, but not far off). Anyway, just felt like venting.....sorry.....you rock...and yes, people do need to educate themselves....EVERYWHERE. DOn't get me wrong, I get tired of the lazieness and happieness in ignorance that is in this country......it's human and everywhere and I just have to remember that or I would have packed up and moved ages ago.......

Now now now , Wendeth ..Sweetie you can vent all you want with me ...really...i totally understand ..i do it myself at times ..but then i have to remind myself that not everybody is interested in my venting ..(Laugh out loud)....but of course ..as far as i am concerned ..i WANT my friends and people to "vent" with me ...i dont know , you might find it strange but i like it if someone shares their feelings & emotions with me ..i really appreciate that in people..so Vent all you want with me ...and dont hesitate...as you can be sure of two things with me...

And another thing i wanna say that i really ,really appreciate people like you who are at least trying to understand the world around them ..It is not "your" fault ..niether "mine" ..for whatever's happening in the world around us ...

but the bitter fact is that its ordinary people who are left to deal with the consequences of the decisions our Govt's /Politicians make "at times" ..i wont say that all of their decisions are wrong...just that some of them are wrong and then well i guess everybody makes mistakes as nobody is perfect.Its just that the world has changed after 9/11, and it has left ordinary people like you and me ,whereever they are in the world ...it has left us all very confused ..so now everybody is trying harder than before to learn more about others , to try and understand the world around them better ..which is a good thing thats come out of all the mess..And though i dont really discuss all this stuff but then i also realize the fact that at times its essential to have a dialogue or its essential to have"communication" with other people simply to know what their point of view is and also to convery your own . ..

If i was in the MIlitary , i would stand up and just salute you right now ..But OOOOps ...i am not in the military ...hehehehehe....Love and hugs your way ...<smiles>......................MOna.

And oh one more thing i wanted to reply to ..you mentioned something about you guys not being able to differentiate between Indians and Pakistani's ...well i didnt say anything like that ...i was saying to Umer something about seeing Switzerland's snow covered peaks in Indian/Pakistani movies..i guess you kinda misread it ..which is Okay..it happens to the best of us ..it happens to me too sometimes..but i just wanted to let you know that i am aware of that fact and that i really do understand why its hard for other people to differentiate between Indians and Pakistani's ..its becos we look the same ..and we almost have the same backgrounds ..and thats becos of the fact that we were a part of the same country before partition...so people in America and even Britian not being to tell who is Indian And who is Pakistani is understandable ...so dont worry about that ...:-)

About Indians and Pakistanis: Even here in Switzerland people say that i am indian but then i tell them that i am Pakistani. Only just a couple of times people guessed it 100% correctly that i am Pakistani.

you guys are great........here we all are attempting to discuss matters the way the old philosophers did....ON THE INTERNET are you kidding me???? it's hilarious at the same time! Okay, so just to clear one thing up, I know noone said anything about paki/indian people looking a like, it was just my example I used about ingnorance....sorry, should have explained it better. I have a GREAT idea......we need to get together and have some chai or something....we don't have to talk politics, but just chill....or talk about this crap. I love that people are using their minds. I mean, I know they do all over the place, and I love to get together with "other" great minds :)
