Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Yangshuo Advanced booking – or not?
Posted: Thu September 2, 2004 09:51 AM UTC
My family and I (3 people) are planning a China trip for next July (2005). We are planning to arrive at Yangshuo from Hong Kong. From Yangshuo we would like to go to Xian by plane (from Guilin). My question is: how far in advance does one need to book a flight Guilin-Xian to be pretty sure to have seats available? Can bookings be made at Yanshuo say one or two days before departure from Guilin?
I have read the information on this forum about bus travel from Hong Kong to Yangshuo (via either Guangzhou or Zhengzhen). Here I have the same question: can we just take the train from HK to Zhengzhen (or Guangzhou) and get there tickets on the spot for departure to Yangshuo the same day? Or should we book in advance? If so, how much in advance?

I haven't been to Yangshuo for a number of years so I can't answer your questions exactly, but I loved to take the fast ferry HK-Wuzhou and a bus from there to Yangshuo. A bus all the way is very long and a boat ride can be far more scenic- plus you get to walk about.

The ferries should still go from China Ferry Terminal on Canton Road, Tsim Sha Tsui. They may also go from Macvau Ferry Terminal, Sheung Wan.

Hi,

The weekends get busy in Yangshuo, so you may have trouble getting a bus ticket then, but normally, if you arrive at the bus station (in either Shenzhen or Guangzhou) 2 hours before departure, then you should be able to get tickets.

I know of a small agency in Shenzhen that can buy you bus tickets for you in advance and they can meet you at the exit of Chinese immigration in Shenzhen and take you to the bus station and show you to the bus. They charge a small fee for this

July can by busy with people flying Guilin-Xian but 3 or 4 days notice is usually enough. you should book these as soon as you arrive in Yangshuo.

If you need more information, please check out my website for Yangshuo. www.yangers.com. I live in Yangshuo and I can keep you up to date with the latest information

Cheers
