A group of eight of us travelling from Dublin to Paris via Charleroi on Ryanair. We leave on 7th and return on 11th October. Is there any alternative (private or public transport) to the Thalys from Brussels?

Is car hire our best option? We don't really want to drive in central Paris.

Any ideas?

We were Interrailing in July. One of our journey was Paris - Brussels. We ended up taking the Thalys. You CAN go via Luxembourg but the journey takes all day - the Thalys takes 2 hours. If you don't want to drive I'd bite the bullet!

We got a price from a company who run an airport shuttle service from Charleroi. They will carry us from Charleroi airport to Paris for €500 return. That's what we'll do - thanks.

If that's 500E for the 8 of you, that sounds like a good deal...
Going to Brussels from Charleroi is indeed going in the opposite direction ;-)

I know a groupe of lads that are on that flight, too, Does anybody know the name of the company that does the bus return from Charleroi to Paris , If so maybe a few people could pool together a book a bus on the saturday down. I could really bring down the costs.

ATS Shuttle is the company we booked with (see website). Standard price for up to 8 people as far as I can see.

That ATS shuttle looks like its 500 for 8 one way to me!

4 of us are arriving on the 21.30 in Charleroi on 8th Oct....anyone else on that flight?

What's the story with leaving the car in Paris overnight...expensive ou non?

I thought the same re price and nearly didnt contact them. I e-mailed them for quote and got a price of 500Euro for return journey.

As regards parking in Paris - our original plan was to park at CDG, or one of the "portes" on the ring road around Paris, and get the train / metro into the centre.
