Midnight Arrival in Iguacu - Hotel Options? Posted: Mon August 30, 2004 12:25 AM UTC
Hi, My flight to Iguacu airport arrives at about 1140PM, and I was told that if I go into town, I'd have to pass by the airport in the morning to get to the Falls anyway. Are there any good options near the airport? At that time of night, I'd also be willing to spend a bit more on a place that would come pick my wife and me up. Also, for the next night or two, are there any comfortable hotels to recommend? I'm not on a particularly tight budget, but I'm also not one to splurge on luxuries either. Thanks in advance.

I do not remember where the airport is, but i tell you where I have been during my visit to Foz. First of all, to visit the falls you have to go on the argentinian side, where the access to the park is, I booked in a hotel about 12 km to the park entrance and other 3 km to Puerto de Iguassu, is a 5 star hotel but cheap for a good value, nice room, with swimming pool and other facilities, only inconvenience, reception speaks only spanish! the hotel name is Hotel Cataratas, to be not confused with a similar name hotel in the brazilian side, right on top of the falls. That one is much more expensive. I will get in my notes and give you the phone number or website. have a nice trip! Enjoy

The Argentinian side has a Sheraton in the actual National Park.

When you come out of the airport you will see lots of taxies, anyone will take you to a hotel of your choice in price and distance, then you can arrange for him to pick you up again in the morning.

Ah, of course. Forgot to mention that I would be arriving on the Brazilian side of Iguacu and will probably stay there for 2 or 3 nights, so I'd appreciate any information about hotels on this side. Although, your responses have got me thinking about staying on the Argentina side...Thanks.

It appears that the Brazillian side only has 1 or 2 viewing platforms. The Argentinian side has many walkways in and around the falls. It took us 2 days to take all the trails. You can even take a free boat ride across the base of the falls to an island which has a small beach and a few trails. Dont forget your waterproof bag! Some parts of the park are so wet you will get soaked! We also took the speedboat ride into the mouth of the falls. It was about 20 pesos, but well worth it. The ride is short but you really feel the power of the falls when they are landing on you :) Enjoy. It is a truly magical place on this planet.

There are many hotels on the route between the airport and the border with Argentina. The best and closest to Foz de Iguazu airport is the Bourbon www.bourbon.com.br.
However, I would also strongly recommend to stay at the Sheraton within Iguazu National Park, just over the Falls, on the Argentinian side. It's a complete different experience stay in the Park and have the catwalks at your hotel back door. I've been there for the second time last week.
Remember that both Brazil and Paraguay require visas to American citizens.
Good luck.

We stayed at the Continental in town, very economical but very nice. The hotel arranged pickup at the airport for us when we reserved, not sure if they could do it that late or not. The catch was that the free airport pickup they arranged for us was a tourguide who tried to sell his services to us while in Foz Iguacu. He turned out to be a very good tourguide and everything worked out fine.
