Well, someone did'nt read the question properly did they? tut tut! Not after "bimbo's" just need a straight answer to a simple question, I respect peoples opinions, but only if they can give information and not incoherant drivel as you have done.

The reason if anyone else wishes to know is that we are planning on going to Belize in November to hopefully run a business, all I need is a few questions answered, not vile comments.

Hope there are people who are decent and who can help. Thanks

By the way have you actually been to Belize? I'm sure there are Belizeans who don't agree with you on the nightlife comment, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't bother at all.

I have met some great people on this site, you, certainly don't fall into that bracket.

I am not big on nightlife, because I very much like getting up fairly early in the morning and as I got older, I couldn't do both. However, my impression is that Ambergris Caye is more likely to have what you want.

From what I heard from some British airmen one time, Belize City also has some nightlife, but my impression is that one usually can do with less excitement and potential danger.

I'm not into night life either. My idea of a good night is a lovely sunset and early to bed. I do agree that Ambergris Cay is the most likely place for night life and also possibly San Ignacio in the Cayo District where they do have some bars etc. IIRC there was jazz at one of the restaurants in Placencia, but I think that was about it.

Lan Sluder who is an expert on Belize has this to say

"NIGHT LIFE

"San Pedro is not exactly a party town, although some residents and visitors tend to be hard drinkers. Nightlife usually consists of drinks and dinner at a local restaurant, with perhaps a later visit to one of the "clubs" or hotel beach bars.

"Big Daddy's is probably the hottest spot on the island, and things sometimes go late and loud here. Across the street, Tarzan's hops, too, especially toward the weekend. The real action at these spots often doesn't get started until midnight. If you want to get down and get loud, get to the Barefoot Igauna south of town. Several hotels have busy beach bars, including the Pier Lounge at the Spindrift (home of the chicken drop), Coconuts, Ramon's and Exotic Caye/Playador.

I"f, after a long day in the sun, you're too pooped to pop a Belikin, you'll be glad to know that many of the island's hotels have cable TV, with about the same channels as you'd get in the U.S."

Another site says "In bars, Belikin is fairly expensive; $2.25 plus a shilling deposit on the bottle. Hotels can charge as much as $5.

"UPDATE: (Feb 2002) A case of Belikin went down to $38 dollah a case, to beat the (illegal) competition. It's legal to import American beers, but EXPENSIVE. A can of Budweiser is $6 dollah."

There's also a lot of rum of course.

Of the places I saw in Belize (San Ignacio, Hopkins, Placenia), I'd say Placencia had the most nightlife. At Placenia, you could hear the bands playing at the beach bars until the wee hours. The music was mostly roots rock, some bluesy stuff and local drum & guitar combos. It's a very small town, though, so don't expect a big city. I never saw anything resembling a disco in Belize, though there may be those in Belize City. But we took a quick look and decided we didn't want to hang out there. Most places are restaurants with a bar & entertainment at night.

I think most places we were at charged $1 or $2 USD for a bottle of the local beer (Belikin - it's good) and $2 to $5 for harder drinks. It'll probably be more expensive at resorty places like Ambergris, but that's just a guess. Usually you can get by with very little money.
