Can you help?

I am going to Venice on the 11th Jan, and it will be my first time visiting. I am staying on the Lido. What time to the vaporettos service stop in the evening? Any tips for a first timer?

Hello there,

I was in Venice about a year ago (for Carnavale) and stayed at a nice hotel on the Lido. I remember the vaporettos running quite late in the evening. I think they just run less frequently as it gets later.

My friends attended a party and I believe we were able to catch a ride back to the Lido around 3am.

One tip I would offer is transportation to the airport around this time of year can be tricky if there is too much fog. That was one of our challenges b/c our flight was leaving so early in the morning and trying to catch the ferry that would take us to the airport for us to catch our flight on time was tricky. The private taxis won't run if the fog is too thick.

Just something to consider if you have an early flight from the Venice airport. Other than that....enjoy this beautiful, romantic city....and BUNDLE up for the chilly Venice evenings!!

Have a great time!

Thanks Geisha Girl for your tips. That was another of my worries because our flight is 9.25 am with Ryanair from Treviso airport. How did you manage to make your flight? Did you fly from Marco Polo airport? I am really worried that we will miss our flight.

Have a look at the following website for information about vaporetto time schedules: www.actv.it

When are you flying back to Stansted? I am taking the 9:45 flight with Ryanair on Wed 15th Jan. I looked at the actv.it site and there is a bus that is specially for ryanair customers it leaves piazza le Roma in Venice at 0645 to and get to the airport at 7.55am

Hope this helps.

Hi Emma,

Yes..my friends and I flew out of Marco Polo airport and had to catch a 6:35am flight. I believe our only choice was to catch the first boat out of the Lido to the airport which was around 5am. We were cutting it very close to our flight time, BUT......luckily our flight was delayed so we made it in time. Just pure luck, I suppose. ;->
