Hello again, thank you for the info in the search menu but I wanted to know more about security in khabarovsk and mafia? I am sorry I ask these questions but since I have never been before I am a little concerned. Thank you again for all your help.

I am sure, if you query a VT Member that has been there of late, they would be able to assist you. Other than that, you would have to research the State Department posts issued from the US Govt. Your quest is a bit pointed at specifics. You may want to see other sites for that information.

While I have not been there recently( 2 years ago) I did not find it as boring as the good Doctor. On the otherhand it is not Moscow either. It is a big industrial city of about 750,000 people situated on the Amur River which sort of dominates everything there. I saw a football game in the big sports stadium and went to a number of cultural events during my 5 day stay. Why all the questions, I mean, most people go to places that sound interesting to them and they know a little about their destination. Mafia is not a problem and as a foreigner you probably find walking around late at night to be safer than your how town. Street crime is not something "Mafia" wants anything to do with. In fact, the safest areas are those with Mafia vested interests. The western press really likes to stir up dire images but it is not something to be affraid of..
