I wanted to know if anyone has been to khabarovsk Russia in 2004 and if so when? Also is it safe for a American to go to khabarovsk? Anyone have any problems in khabarovsk? What is the city like?

After living there for close to a year w/ my husband I had no trouble with crime, however his job was supplied with a driver/bodyguard. The biggest hazard Is the water and food. Check with the CDC for the epidemics in the region before going. TB is rampant along with the Brucellosis bacterium which is from the cattle. Mainly gotten from the consumption of unpasteurized dairy products. Boredom is also a great issue along with the severly cold winters. Bring an ample supply of reading materials as there is much else to do. The best restaraunts in town are Scalini and Overtime.
