| Toledo | Toledo 1 day or 2 Posted: Tue August 24, 2004 09:58 PM UTC
I am off to Madrid for 1 night and Toledo for 2 nights at the end of September. I prefer the smaller cities / larger towns than the big busy cities. Is there enough to do in Toledo during the day and at night?
I am just looking for typical bars hopefully with some traditional music and atmosphere. Any suggestions / recommendations? Cheers Geoff |

I was in Madrid for a week and made a day trip to Toledo and would say a day is enough. The catherdral is amazing and the winding streets are nice. with many shops and restaurants. I also made a side trip to Segovia and enjoyed it more thanToledo. Its smaller than Toledo, and I thought it was much cleaner. It has a very impressive catherdral and Alcazar, a great main square qith cafes and restaurants, and a massive Roman aqueduct right in town. (Toledo also has a McDonalds in the main square)
It's around the same distance from Madrid to the north I would highly recomend it. Good luck!

Toledo is a beautiful Medieval town. The entire town is preserved as a Spanish National Monument. Many people see it on a side-trip from Madrid, but I always stay for two nights. The Cathedral is a must-see. There are endless labrynths of winding stone streets and it is a wonderful experience to just walk and walk. There are many monasteries, synagogues, and the house of El Greco. The church of Santo Tome has one of Spain's most valued artistic treasures, El Greco's Burial of Count Orgaz.
Simply walking around you will find so many wonderful shops, restaurants and bars. There is a spectacular view of the city from the patio at the Parador up on the hill. A nice place for a drink at sunset. Enjoy your trip. -- Fred
