Has anyone stayed in the ETAP in Augsburg and what brand of hotel does it compare to in the USA. Is it clean and are the beds good and are they double beds?

Ibis Hotel is also a AccorGroup Hotel.
Ibis Hotels are 2** Hotels = +/- Super8, DaysInn

I think there is no problem with security in this aera.

Yes, ETAP = 1* and IBIS = 2* i'ts ok I think.

EtapHotels are located near Autobahn(Highway)
Ibis are located near/in a city.

Have a nice trip !

Hi,
I don't know the ETAP very well, but the IBIS Hotel is just fine. I stayed there a few years ago, it's cheap, nothing special, but O.K. Near the city center and the main train station. The hotel is clean, the aera is safe (like almost everywhere...), you can go for a walk, shopping or sightseeing from there.
Nice stay in Augsburg

hi there,
havent been to the ETAP in Augsburg, but for all ETAP I've been in Europe: the rooms are clean (compairing to the Motel6 I've been in ths USA they are very, very, very clean). Not too big. The bathrooms are small. The breakfirst is poor, not worth, go to the next café. It is a "number hotel" - dont know whether there is an english word (perhaps someone can help). You get a code at the counter (or via telefon) and there is not much service or such things in the hotel. In Augsburg I guess ALL areas are safe. This is Germany. Mostly the ETAPs are a little out, near highway connections, not too close to the center. You will need a car to get there. Ah, I see, Aachen already told You this. If You go by train the ETAP is not a good choose. The IBIS is run by the same group and it is a little better (bigger rooms etc.). I would choose the ETAP if I'm on a budget but with a car and IBIS if I'm going without a car.
have fun

me again. I forgot the beds. Mostly You will have one double, but there are different sorts of room. I have also seen to single or one double and one single above that (guess for kids ...).

thanks a lot we have both IBIS and ETAP reserved in Augsburg and we can decide when we get there unless we get there after 7 PM

Is Augsburg the same time zone as Frankfurt. We leave Frankfurt and travel to Rothenburg and then to Augsburg for the night. ( all in one day )

How are the public phones in Germany ?

Is it reasonable to stop @ the ETAP first and if OK call the IBIBS from the room and cancel. I am told phone calls within Germany are expensive ? even a $ to call is @ a public phone is not unreasonable but 4$ from the room seems expensive. Can we use euro coins for the public phone ?

Hi,
yes Augsburg has the same time zone than Frankfurt, everywhere in Germany you have the same time zone.

There are public phones in Augsburg, mostly in nower days cardphones, you can buy this telephone cards everywhere in Germany at postoffices and other shops. If you have to make a phone call from your hotel room it surely is more expensive than from a public phone, but I don't think they'll take $4. From the public phone a national call shouldn't cost more than 30 - 50 Eurocent (Unfortunatly, i don't know the rates because we all use our mobilephones...;-))

I don't know if you're able to cancel your reservation on the same day, look at the rates and description of the hotels.

Have a nice trip
Astrid
