I will be traveling to Brittany next May and am working on an itinery. Most of it I have worked out but cannot seem to decide on fours days I had planned on staying in Vannes. Now I'm wondering if I should expand that a bit.
So here's what I've planned: drive to Quimper from Dinard. Explore the town and spend the night. Next morning drive to Quiberon, leave the car and ferry to Belle Ile. As it's a short drive I though we could stop at Pont Aven and/or Carnac. Spend the night on Belle Ile and explore the island the next day. Leave on the late afternoon ferry and drive to Vannes. Spend two nights. Leave for the Paris on the last morning. I am usually a leisurely traveler and feel like I'm trying to do too much. However, I understand the towns are small and may not require all that much time. Any ideas?? |

I think you have planned it very well, Vannes is great, very picturesque but 4 days there is a lot. You are right about many of the places being quite small & not requiring an awful lot of time to explore. Your itinery sounds wonderful, Bretagne is beautiful!
Have an excellent trip (~_~)

If you have some time to spend in Dinard, you could also visi St-Malo at the other side of the bay. There is a ferry every hour. Dinard is a cosy "belle époque" town. The "promenade du clair de lune" is charming and not to miss neither.
A tip to explore Belle Ile: rent a bike. The island is so small that you'll be able to see everything in one day.
