| Shek O Village | Need help with wedding plans Posted: Fri August 20, 2004 06:11 AM UTC
Hello,
Gung-ho on the idea of having our wedding during a trip to Hong Kong during the week of October 26th . We love to hike so thought to get married on one. (The wedding dress goes in the back pack). I can't seem to find how to contact someone to perform the ceremony. Atop Dragon's Back seems like a lovely view spot one might 'take the plunge' followed by dinner in Shek-O. I need to find someone to take the trek and perform the ceremony? What official title(s) or certification does this person need to have? I also would like to know in what area should I look for a nice hotel that would be closest to the To Ten Wan trailhead. Also any hotel recommendations for our honeymoon stay in or near Sanya, Hainan Island, China? Any suggestions or info contacts would be greatly appreciated. |

I don't seems to know / heard of any certified person Hong Kong perform this kind of ceremony. Normally, perople get married in governent ROM and sign the papers in front of the ROM officer.

Marriage in Hong Kong should be taken place at a Marriage Registry or in a licensed place of public worship. However, if you want your marriage held at places other than the appointed locations, please follow the normal procedure of marriage registration and state clearly your request at the Notice of Marriage Form. As told by Hong Kong Marriage Registration & Records Office, they seldom approve this kind of case and the office reserves the right to reject your request.
For details, please refer to Hong Kong Immigration Department website: http://www.immd.gov.hk= /ehtml/bdmreg_4.htm There is no hotel located in To Tei Wan or Shek O. However, there are many hotels located in Causeway Bay, Admiralty or Central which are about 30 mins taxi ride away from there.

Thank you Vigi,
All helpful info has come from fellow travelers as well as the dream.uk.com site. We have applied to the Cotton Tree Registry and considering the Bishop Lei Hotel for our 3 day stay near HK Park. Do you have any hotel recommendations before I book? We plan pics on a hike to Dragon's Back above Shek-O and dinner celebrabration at the Chinese/Thai Seafood. Again thanks and I'll post my "bride chooses HK for wedding for the love of red " picture. Jane
