Well, I have got October now, and you must be back from ROTA. How do you like SONG SONG village? They had a bar there called FIGUEROAS but I think they went under. I was first in that island back in 1988. There were about three typhoons all converged near that island but I lucked out. The streets used to be mostly unpaved and just natural coral. Big time pot holes. Beautiful island but not much going on except for the ASPARAGUS bar where all the town folks would come in and sing KAROKE. I made an ass of myself the first night there, got good and drunk, and the next day, walking around that small island, everyone and I mean everyone KNEW ME BY MY FIRST NAME. This place was so little visited by outsiders that the locals hung around the airport to see who was coming in. And here I come, the care free HOULIE off the plane. I went back again in 1995 and little had changed. Memories memories....

This May, I & my husband couldn't visit Rota....
We couldn't get the airticket...

But we would like to visit there in the near future :-)
The ocean looks so beautiful with transparent water!

I don't know why you couldn't get tickets to Rota. Next time you go to Guam, go to the PAT WON airport, but when you go up the hill, to go park, make a right, not a left. To the right up the hill is the Continental Micronesia maintenance hangars. There are two SMALL COMMUTERS operating there. It is actually where THE OLD AIRPORT USED TO BE. The commuters that fly into ROTA are FREEDOM AIR and PACIFIC ISLAND AVIATION. They both fly SD360 SHORTS into Rota. They are comfortable turboprop. It takes maybe 15 minutes to get there. Just ask anyone in the airport when you arrive how to get to the other terminal, and you can actually walk there, or when you rent a car, which is easier, just drive there. Make your own reservations and don't depend on the hotels to rip you off. I suggest the Coconut Village hotel in Rota. GREAT PLACE.

From late April to the beginning of May, we have "Golden week" here in Japan. (many holidays in the week.) So many many people travel.

And as you know a lot of people visit Guam and Saipan. We couldn't get tickets between Japan and Guam or Japan and Saipan....

By the way, Coconut Village!! Yes, our plan was to stay there! I'm glad to know that Coconut Village is a good place.
So,next time we have chance to visit Rota, we will surely stay at Coconut Village!

That hotel is on the main road heading towards SONG SONG village, but its at least some 3 miles or so to town, so it may be a good idea to rent a car. The hotel provides a shuttle but only at certain times. I am talking some 14 years ago when I stayed there in 1989. I know its still around. Very nice beaches and very quiet there. Rota is like a DREAM to me now. A very nice dream.
