Misawa is in Aomori Prefecture. You can go to www.misawajapan.com for more information. There is an air base there. Maybe you can contact some ppl who live in Aomori...

Misawa is in Aomori-ken. According to the members list there is only one VirtualTourist member living in Aomori, smileygirltwo.
