It depends on what you're looking for. Since Vegas is in the desert, the temperatures are extreme. In the summer, it will get as hot as 110 degrees Farenheit! In the winter, it will get as cold as 30-40 degrees in the evenings. In terms of crowds....wow....that's a tough one. Long weekends, when we have American holidays, are usually REALLY crowded and impossible to get a room. New Year's Eve, Thanksgiving weekend, 4th of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day are all popular. Halloween weekend is the same because of this HUGE party that occurs every year now. March Madness, which is the college basketball tournament, is a big month. SuperBowl Sunday, the pro football championship game weekend (last Sun. of Jan.) is big too. All other weekends aren't OVERLY crowded. Weekdays are good too because you can get great rates since there isn't as many tourists in town. Let me know if you have any other questions. Feel free to check out my Vegas page for more info.

I went to LV in January a few years ago, and it was not crowded and the days weren't hot, but the temps reached to the 50's and 60's. The others are right.. avoid holidays, summers when it's brutally hot (but cheap) and see the Cirque du Soleil's "O" if you get there. It's worth the money.

One other issue that has not been addressed is conventions in town. My best advice is to check the website of the Las Vegas Convention and Vistitors Aurthority. http://www.vegasfreedom.com/ This site has room deals, convention schedules, normal weather temps, and other information of our city. Good Luck, and enjoy the hospitality of Las Vegas.

I went last July 4th weekend and it was great! I like hot weather, and for my friend and I, both single guys, it rocked at that time of year!
We booked a air/hotel package staying at the Rio, and the price was reasonable, the weather was great, and the "ahem" scenery was "awesome"!
But it depends on your situation, and what you prefer, and what your agenda is!

I, too, went during a 4th of July weekend not that long ago and it was not "great" as Don described. It was too hot and humid! I returned to my hotel after midnight only to find out that there was an electrical problem of sorts (which explained the numerous firetrucks parked outside). We were not allowed back into our rooms and had to "sleep" by the elevators on the floor. It was also the year that part of the country was experiencing a lot of brownouts. :-(
I hope you have better luck. Bambi

Also keep in mind that on weekdays the hotels are markedly cheaper than on weekends and of course, less crowded.

Hey Bambi, sorry to hear about your experience, sounds like you didn't have fun. :(
I can't wait to go back, and I would definetly go back on July 4th, but would also like to try some different times of the year! So when I've got some free vacation days, I'll do it.
Leeski, if you could be more specific, then we could give more specific answers. Right now you are getting a range of opinions.
Until then, I will say that if you like hot weather, the outdoor pools are awesome, and I think many are closed in the winter months.
But if you are not, then it doesn't matter.
You could live in any one of the 30+ fabulous resort casino/hotels, for your stay, and never leave the place.
Or if you are the adventurous type, go traveling up and down the strip and sightsee as many resorts as you have time for. Doesn't cost anything to enter.
Fabulous shows in Vegas, some are pricey, but what the hey, you are going to Vegas!
Are you single, married, do you have kids, or are you taking elderly relatives?
Let us know more specifics, and we can focus in on better answers for you!
There are some great side trips from Vegas. The Grand Canyon is nearby, and my friend and I took a 3 1/2 hour round trip helicopter ride to the Grand Canyon, highlighted by a champagne lunch on the rim!
Viva Las Vegas, just do it!

Thanks Don. Vegas contributed more unforgettable stories to that vacation of mine. Fortunately, none of them got in the way of my girlfriends and I having fun.
Cheers.
