Vive Montreal!

Two of my best friends just got back from a week in Montreal and Quebec City. They LOVED both places! One wonderful thing for me was when they toured around my old neighbourhood of Outremont. They visited all of my old haunts there, saying Bonjour! to many of my old friends. Just wonderful.

To top everything off, they brought me back one dozen St. Viateur's bagels. Yumm, yumm, and triple Yummy!!!

I think what I need to do is lose 30 lbs. and then go back to Montreal and eat like a king for a week!!!

Here, Here!!

It is hard to tire of the place, that's for sure. All the seasons have something special, this summer's festivals were particularly wonderful, but there is always something going on whenever you are there. This past weekend I was there for less than 24 hours and while I didn't find a lot of Greeks watching the Olympics on Sunday afternoon, I did have a great time exploring the Jean-Talon to Parc neighborhood, the outdoor market with fresh buttered corn on the cob and sausages made up as middle eastern hot dogs and all the summertime fruits, and then I just happened upon the final day of the Italienne Festival on Ste. Laurent with music, dancing, food, Lambroginis and Fiats, and people milling around outside the cafes of Little Italy. I did find the area where the Greeks probably would watch the Olympics Closing ceremonies, near Athenea Parc around Jean-Talon station, so may go back there.

Why, if the election doesn't go well for me, I may just go hide in Montreal until they make me leave!

Mmmmm, St. Viateur. I've got stomach flu, but you still got me salivating. Koreans just don't do bagels right. Go figure.

Just 2-3 months until I can get some bagels of my own, and then over to Cosmos, and a smoked meat sandwich, a good steak.... mmmmmmm

I had their bagels at least twice a week for 18 months. I bet your stomach flu might have come from elsewhere.

I've eaten them for 3 years straight ( I lived on St-Viateur) and never got sick...

must be what you spread on them !

BTW, almost finished the 3 dozens i brought back early July...back to Safeway donut-shaped tasteless bread a.k.a "west coast bagels"

Wow, I'm sorry if it sounded like I was suggesting I got sick from eating those bagels! The only food poisoning I ever got in Montreal was actually from some potato salad at Real Bagel on Queen Mary (I've learnt my lesson!).

I'm in Korea now, and the point I was trying to get across is that even with the stomach flu (when the thought of pretty much any food makes me feel ill), St. Viateur bagels still sounded great to me. Please don't go spreading any strange rumors about those wonderful bagels. I don't want to be responsible for that.

Eat an extra sesame one for me next time you're there, please!
