I guess if price is more important than time spent flying, then you can travel Ryanair as follows. Pisa....London Stansted........Dublin.........Aberdeen.
I know this is long winded, but I hear that some people will do anything for love.
Cheers John

Don't know if they do Pisa, but Easyjet fly here from Luton. Sorry I can't be more help.

Ever considered going by train or bus? National Express, Scotrail and GNER all have decent deals from London, so you only have to worry about a flight to London, which is easy to get...

Train I could cope with (also done much longer), but coach from Italy to here could be pushing it... But if he's in love!

That's why I suggested flying until London and then the train up...

Still a pain, I find land journeys in UK drag so much more than elsewhere- why? Go halfway round the world by train, no problem, 1.5 hours Ipswich to London, nightmare. Bizarre.
Bringing it more to the point though, trains from London to here are pretty pricey still and flying may still be the best bet. Buses, well, may be OK.

I saw offers from 20 quid return with GNER to Edinburgh... but I can understand your aversion to bus journeys within the UK - I literally fell out the bus every time after the Fort William - Inverness tour, and that's only 2 Hours... So maybe train is more comfortable...

20 quid London- Edinburgh! Wow, I was impressed to find 26 from Abz to Ed last week. Now if I could find that deal this weekend'd be a treat!

It was one of the deals which you see, read, and only later, when it's too late realise, you should have recorded and you'll never find them again. I think it was GNER... but I cannot say for sure...

Probably, I think they're the cheapest, but just looking on their site, they don't seem to post specials and you got to register to find out prices, etc. Maybe I'll go by on my way home in the morning. Then I can tell our friend here too!

I'd be sleeping in the day tomorrow though. Good way to while away the journey, but not easy to do on UK trains.

Try this:
1) Pisa - London Stansted (Ryanair) 2) London Stansted - London Luton (National Express Coach Express Direct) 3) London Luton - Aberdeen (EasyJet)
The transfer from Stansted airport to Luton airport can be done by coach, direct express no stopping over in London city. Cost you from 9pound to 15pound return, depending on time and package you take. Check for more details here. http://www.londontoolkit.com/travel/luton_stansted_transfer.htm

Aberdeen airport is a biest .... due to the high taxes there isn't an enormous choice for flights arriving or departuring. You might consider Edinburgh or Glasgow as alternatives and take the train to Aberdeen (the ride on the train is not that long and you'll get quite a bonnie view over the coast line).
