Even if I haven't been to Timor for over ayear now, I have very frequent contact with people there, both locals and expats, but it is difficult to know which info to give you, because we do not know anything about yourself, your background, reason and duration of your stay etc... Generally, more specific questions from VT"members" with a public "face" are easily answered!
Please drop us a few more lines about your considerations... ;-) Yiannis

Got in on this question a bit late, but it's all good. My advice to you is to pick up a Tetum-English-Tetum dictyionary before you go and learn the language as best you can- it'll go a long way.
