Has anyone been to Gjirokaster? We are traveling in February and are curious as to climate, lodgings, food, local customs, dangers, etc. Thanks!

I have been to Gjirokaster several times. My wife is from there and my father is from a village just south of there. There are about 25,000 people living there. In Febuary the weather will be aproximately betwenn 40-65 degrees F. It does snow there on occaision but the snow rarely lasts more than a day. The people are nice, but if you don't speak Albanian some merchants will likely try to over charge for stuff. There are hotels available in the city, but none that I can recall at this time are very luxurious. My email is nvkochiu@hotmail.com, email me with more questions when you get a chance, I am at work and can't go into any great detail at this time. Thanks Naim
