Trips from Monterrey

Hi,

I would like to find out which are the possible places for daytrips or weekend getaways from Monterrey. I have found a couple so far:

Zacatecas
Real de Catorce
San Luis Potosi
Guanajuato
San Miguel Allende

Are there any others? Is it difficult to get to these places? How long does it take and which bus companies should I look for? How much does a executive ticket cost? What about accomodation? Appreciate all suggestions!

Depends on what kind of stuff you like to do... for example, there are lots of excursions you can go on in the mountains nearby here.. very cool.

What kinds of things do you want to do?

I would prefer to see colonial towns like in Guanajuato, Zacatecas, etc. But they are kinda too far away. Any towns that are aimilar and nearer to Monterrey? Is Saltillo something like that?

I've only been here for a couple of months... and have been working here so unfortuanately I don't know the area too well yet, but here's a website I stumbled across about Satillo... sounds like a cool place to go and the site says that their state fair is there until August 6th! I might wanna check that out too :) good idea!

That sounds more like a vacation. It can take up to 5 hours from Monterrey to Zacatecas if you drive or 6 by bus. From Zacatecas you can tour along all those places but you'll need more than a week.

Colonial places in the north? I'm not aware of any. Saltillo is a nice and quiet place but not really colonial.

Enjoy
