Venice in November

6 of us will be in Venice the 1st week in Nov. We would really appreciate any advice on making the most of such a short visit. What are the absolute must see places? Also have any of you had experience with tour companies? Thank-you for any help you can give us. Jay & Karen

The easiest way to have a look at the must see's is to enter 'venice' in the destination search section. You'll find more than 300 pages about Venice!
I haven't got any experience with tour companies, but when I was in Venice, I did every single tour by myself and it turned out to be much cheaper than the tariffs I saw at the local tour companies.
Are you staying 1 week in Venice? In that case, don't worry, you'll have time to visit the must see's and even some small islands around Venice.

Enjoy your trip!

I'm not sure how many days you plan to spend in Venice, but you can see most of Venice easily in two days - and I agree with the other posting. Check out the Venice pages here or any good guide book.

But most important: get lost! Literally. You'll be on an island so what's to worry. Bring along a map, and if you truly get lost, just ask for directions back to Piazza San Marco, or the landmark you need. Or follow the many signs. I think that Venice, just like Rome, is best when you allow time to wander.

Ciao!
Cristina

To do in Venice:
1. Enjoy the canls and the gondolas.
2. Do as much shopping as you can. A suggestion: if you come out of San Marco square you will pay nearly half for the same product.
3. Feed the pigeons; you never get to do this anywhere else; the pigeons are well potty trained. I couldn't see guano anywhere.
4. Go to Murano & Burano to buy exquisite glassware and lace work. Expensive once again ; but cheaper outside S.Marco square.
5. Enjoy dining at the Piazzala listening to some fine live music.
6. Go to the tourism centre at S. Marco sq. They are very helpful
Ciao and enjoy Venice while it lasts

Go to Antiche Cantine Ardenghi for a dining experience you will not forget! From Campo S.S. Giovanni e Paolo, pass the church-like hospital, go over the bridge to the left, & take the 1st right on Calle della Testa to #6369. There’s no sign, the door is locked, and the place looks closed. Just knock and say the password (La Repubblica Serenissima), and you’ll be admitted. Michael the host will ask you to fill out a membership card and wine and dine you with a variety of predetermined plates depending on what’s available at the market that day.

You’ll love it. We did!

Hi Guell, How did you ever find a restaurant like that? We definitely will try to find it...and will let you know when we get home. It sounds outstanding!
