Off to the Palladium Bavaro Grand on the 12th August. Is there any need to take formal clothes for any of the restaurants or are shorts and t-shirts okay?

There is a big jump from shorts and a t-shirt to formal.
Bring slacks and a nice shirt for dinners. The phrase is resort casual.

Honestly I think you are good to go with taking a pair of slacks or nice clothes ...and mostly tshirt and shorts...its a vacation..most of the things you will do will require the bathing suit dress code lol...
