Re: Surfing and living in the Azores Posted: Mon February 21, 2005 08:19 PM UTC
I live in Terceira and although I'm not a surfer I've been told surfing here isn't all tht great. We have a very rocky coastline. it is great for windsurfing, jetskiing, diving and alot of other water sports. If your going to be teaching on base then you'll be about 5 minutes from the City of Praia which has the only sand beach and where you can get rent alot of water sports equipment. As for medical facilities we have our major hospital In the city of Angra which is about 15 km from Praia and has very qualified staff and there is the Centro de Saude da Praia for minor emergencies. The island is beautiful, the people are friendly, the food is to die for and if you're in to water sports (which apparently you are)you won't find a cleaner ocean anywhere! T.M.
