| South Iceland | Iceland in October Posted: Sat July 17, 2004 11:37 AM UTC
I am hoping to take a weeks holiday in Iceland, hire a car and go to some of the places in west and south Iceland. Does anyone have experience of Iceland at this time of year?

It is the best time. Days are a little shorter then in late June and early July (so little !) but if you consider going into the highlands, the fords will be easier to cross as there is less snow remaining to melt. I feel that the second part of July and the beginning of August are the best time to visit Iceland.

I do agree with the other answer. But if you want a rental car try this one and tell them Bragi sent you. And if you go along the south go to this place :
he http://www.geir.net/ it is about 350-400 Km away from Reykjavik and the roads are good. And to Gullfoss and Geysir it is about 140-150 Km away from Reykjavik
