Leeds Travel Forum

Just wanted to know if anybody could share their thoughts on Leeds University (main campus or Bretton). Possibly heading there for Biology studies (from Canada). Curious about what the social life is like in Leeds......General question I know, but ANY info/opinions appreciated!!

Having lived in York, I can only say that Leeds is known as the nightlife metropole in the region...

Leeds has a really good and varied night life (anything from Gothic to pop). The city centre has undergone an extensive redevelopment over the last 10 years and is now an extremely desireable place to live and work. The shopping centre is fabulous from the Victorian quarter ( good for designer and quality goods) to the Corn Excahnge where you can find hand made and alternative things. Leeds Uni also has some of the best and uncoming bands play at its student union.

The Bretton College site is about 10 miles from Leeds. The college is situated in the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. This park covers several acres of beautiful scenery filled with sculpture (many of them are Henry Moore). There is a student Uniion here too, but I can;t remerber having ever been into it. The park hists several events over the year such as plays. The college ground are private though, so you won't be too bothered by visitors to the park.

Leeds has a good travel network trains/ busess no problem.

No need to worry about night life in Leeds. Just stumble from bar to bar, club to club. Loads of good places but of course some not so good.
Have fun
