I have not been to Antigua, but we loved Barbados. The beaches are beautiful and white. The east cost is rough. The west is calm. As far as night life, we found plenty both on the south and west coasts. We also rented a moke and drove ourselves around for a couple of days up into the hills. Its a beautiful manageable island with friendly happy people. Have fun.

I have visited Barbados for a day and spent 7 days on Antigua. I found Barbados a wonderful place and the people freindly. Antigua was beautiful, freindly, more than 365 beaches to visit. I say you can't go wrong with either choice. If I had a choice to make with all things being equal (airfare, rental car cost etc.) I would pick Antigua. I can't say why, I think it was the people and the atmosphere.
