take pounds and change it when you get there.

or else withdraw cash from ATM machines. you shouldn't have any problems if you have a VISA card.

Poland still uses the Polish zloty. It is a very stable currency and freely convertable. You can change your home currency into PLN or take PLN out of the local ATM using your Cirrus or Eurocard bankcard at competitive exchange rates. Any unused PLN can be then changed back at the end of your trip without problems. Today's rate of exchange is 3.7300 PLN against the USD, 4.5350 against the EUR & 6.8165 against the GBP. No worries. Dos zwidenia. Bill.

>>errmmm... cirrus and eurocard don't exist in the UK<<

It might be interesting for you to know that Cirrus is just a brand of ( in UK widely used ) MasterCard ( other brands are Maestro and Mondex)
Pls note also that Eurocard is in fact a MasterCard.
If I recalled it well , in 2001/ 2002 , Eurocard switched its name into MasterCard, that is why on some old cards one can still see the logo of Eurocard/MasterdCard. The latest cards carry only the logo of MasterCard.

>>take the card you've got - there shouldn't be any problems ;0)<<

Just want to add my 2 cents :))--> please, be aware: the Polish ATM's accept only cards with 4 digit-PIN code, if you have one with 6 digit-number ( not ending 00) it will not work.

LOL robot5x, I know you couldn't resist it but OMG! don't even dare to think how the forum's postings would increase in number if the English native speakers would correct OUR faults´-)

Sorry for my poor Polish. Actually, it is only one of many languages I manage to garble! ; )

The only reason I mention the Maestrocard, EC card, Cirrus card, is that these are 'groups' that link their electronic payment systems together, just like Visa or American Express. Regardless of the issuer of your card or your homebank, you can check to which of these payment systems they belong by looking on the back of your card. Then you will know whether your card is accepted in any particular ATM.

I have had trouble in some Canadian bank ATMs with Eurocard or EC card, as they were not recognized, and in Moscow I had my card rejected numerous times. Nothing wrong with the card, but my bank card was not one of the cards they recognized.

Hopefully, in Warsaw you will have no problems, but if you do, you can always walk across the street and try another ATM.

Poka.
