Bimini District Sightseeing and shopping

Hi,

My girlfriend and I want to visit Bimini. I am into the
legends side and would like to visit the Indian Mounds, healing springs and perhaps snorkle to the Road to Atlantis. She likes to shop, duty free and especially diamonds.

Can anybody make a recommendations of where to stay? How to get there from Florida, we are in the Space Coast so I know we will may to drive down to
Ft. :Lauderdale.

Has anybody been to some of these sights? Know of
any other legends?

regards,

Ray

Your girlfriend is going to be SERIOUSLY disappointed if she tries to shop for diamonds in Bimini. They don't even have much in the way of postcards. T-shirts, sarongs, some minor straw items and Bimini bread is about it.

http://home.att.net/~bimini-museum/exhibits.html is the Bimini musuem site which talks about the road. I have not bothered because I don't believe that's what it is. The spring on south Bimini is also something I've not seen because descriptions that I've read don't seem to warrent the effort.

The most exciting way to get there IMHO would be to take Chalks seaplane (Ocean Air) from Ft. Lauderdale. Round trip is $247/person according to their website..

We've only stayed on our boat. Keefe's underwater (who does a swim with wild dolphins) is partners with the Big Game Club so their people stay there. They have snorkeling excersions. I would prefer Blue Water myself, and I think that's the best place to eat.
