| Trento | Is Trento a good destination for a 77 yr old lady?? Posted: Thu June 24, 2004 09:11 AM UTC
Hi everybody, I want to travel with my mother to Trento in early August, partly to escape the heat, but also to allow her to enjoy the scenery of the mountains. Mom is 77 yrs old, very spry, but has recently experienced a difficulty with her hip, which makes walking up hills or stairs a bit uncomfortable, otherwise she could out walk me any day on flat terrain.
Any suggestions for things to see and do with my Mom? Your ideas would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Diane |

While there, why not take a trip to Bolzano? It's a very charming little town only an hour or so away, and again, the center is free of climbing and there are cable car possibilities into nearby mountains.

Trento is a small city, so there's not much walking to do compared to big cities like Rome. The city of Trento is pretty flat so there's not many hills. And yes, I also suggest taking a trip to Bolzano which is also pretty small. In Bolzano you could just stroll the streets, go to a couple of museums, and the Duomo.

It actually can be eventhough its located in the Alps. How about planning a trip to Merano, a town with a lot of flair and personality... two different cultures meet and there is a variety of places to visit, from botanic gardens, castles, beautiful little towns in the region...
Alto Adige is ideal for long walks on a flat terrain especially in spring to see the apple blossom and autumn the harvest period. Check out the website www.hotelmarini.it and maybe you decide to take your mum to a unique location. Best regards

From Trento you can do a daytrip to Bolzano and from there go to Merano also.

Probably too late now, but for general info...it is usually extremely hot and humid in Trento in August, so maybe not the perfect place to come to escape the heat!
