Has anyone been to Somaliland (Hargeisa, etc) recently?
Would the place, or at least Hargeisa and Berbara feel safe enough to visit on one's own?
Are the borders with Ethiopia and Djibouti open currently?
What are prices like - cheap hotels, public transport?

one of my freinds flew to ethiopia last week with the intention of crossing in to somaliland.
in a couple of weeks i should know if he made it.

yes,you can fly easily,and cross the borders between Djibouti and Ethiopia,it depence on where you are?
you can fly with Daallo airline,http://www.daallo.com/ or try Juba,what ever yu do enjoy yourself there.

Yip, I have visited Somaliland in the meantime, crossing overland from Ethiopia and out into Djibouti.
It was fascinating - and I saw no other foreigners while in the country.
It was also quite cheap, though a bit pricier than Ethiopia.
