| Da Lat | Dalat seems cold, is it? Posted: Wed June 23, 2004 08:55 AM UTC
Dear fellow travellers,
From what I read, it sounds like Da lat is a cool place but then again I wonder if it is too cold for comfort. I would appreciate it if you could give me some advice on the expected climate and what nice hotel would you recommend. Thank you. |

We were there july 2002 and the weather wasnt cold, hardly chilly(it was some 20-25 celsius at day times, at least). But, we are from Finland and we are pretty used to a cold weather...;-)
I recommend Hang Nga Guesthouse aka Grazy womans house. That place is propably the weirdest hotel on earth! I felt like Alice in Wonderland when we get there. The room rates are pretty high(from 20 to 80 USD), but its worth every nickel, believe me. AT day time there are lot of tourist at the hotel area(cause it is a sightseeing), but thats just fine cause you will propably be out watching sightseeings. We spend there two nights in different rooms just to get experiences. We stayed at Eagle-room and Tiger-room. On my page there are few pics and contact information.

We were in Dalat in Oct 04 and found it be be quite chilly and wet. We stayed at Golf 2 and cant recomend it as it was very damp the sheets, the walls and it wasn't that friendly. We travelled on the Sinh Cafe oopen bus and the frist stop was as a very nice hotel the name I dont know were they were offering rooms for $US5 we saw some people from our bus ands they said it was very nice. We stayed at Gold as were were doing the 23 day budget trip with all accomodation included, but we know next time!!!
I do know a brilliant restaurant though one of the best In Vietnam called ART Cafe run by a lovely man great food and very cheap my favourite was panfried chicken with lemon grass, chilli and rice 25000VND similar prices for all othe rmeals drinks even cheaper

Can agree to the chicken and lemon grass- beautiful. We went there on a recommendation from a fellow travellor and were not disappointed although we would have liked to have seen the owner/artist at work. We were also there in Oct 2004. Weather was cool but not cold. Locals say it gets down to 10 deg. Not cold to us but they were selling hand knitted headwear, jumpers, scarves etc at the markets.

We were in Da Lat in May, and found it to be a very nice change of pace from the rest of the country. Temperature was probably averaging around 20 degrees celsius during our stop here.
I would recommend the Fortune Hotel based on my experience with this hotel. It was around US$20 to $25 for a triple-occupancy room that was very clean, big and quiet.
