How do you find living in Darlington...??? I am currently living in Northampton, but am considering moving to Darlington, and I just wondered what it was like as a general place... Are the people friendly, and whats the nightlife like???

"Darlington people will probably be really friendly as Northerners tend to be"

I can only agree! :-)))

But also with the rest of what you write. I've only visited and never lived in Darlington - only York, but I have exactly the same comments. I also find salaries veeeery low up north. But VT's steventilly is the person to ask if you want a general Darlington perspective I suppose. :-)

Some gorgeous places just outside Darlington, having lived in Northampton myself though not Darlington, where I have a friend. I would think there is not an awful lot of difference.

I live in Darlington and it's great. It's very cold right now though and we haven't had a summer in about four years. Apart from that it's a pretty victorian market town built by Quaker entrepeneurs famous for its Railway related history. Darlington to Stockton was the first train line ever in the whole world.

Locals can be a touch blinkered but are generally nice and although there is much macho posturing on a night out its not a dangerous town by any stretch of the imagination. Nightlife is OK if you like binge drinking and cheesy chart house music. But there is a thriving live music scene if you know where to look...

If you're a driver then you also have easy access to Newcastle, Durham, York, The Lake District etc. Marvellous.

Even by train it is easy to get to York and Newcastle and the local buses head into Teesdale with its scenery :)
