Hi, I'm going to bankgok for 3 days in september before heading to koh samui with my boyfriend. We're staying at the Landmark. Anyone been before? what's it like? is it close to everything? Any info on where to eat out/bars/shopping would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Night life- Sukhumvit soi 11- Q-Bar, Bed Bar
Sukhumvit soi 31 - Mystique

We stayed at the Landmark Hotel back in 1989. It was lovely and new back then. It was centrally located on Sukhumviy Road.

See my tip at:

There is an Chinese restaurant in the hotel that serves great Dim Sum.

You pretty much can walk down the street (either way)
and find most of what you could possible look for.

As far as eating, I love the street vendors. Definately try the satays (skewered meat) Cost about 30 cents (american) each!

If you go down towards Soi 21(?) at night there is a street vendor selling drinks in front of what is to be (or is) a new bank. His name is Telak. His sister sells fruit next to him. And just down from him a vendor sells the meat. There are tables and chairs right on the street. it is a great way to mingle with the locals.
They are very friendly, will not cheat you and he is a very interesting character.

You'll also enjoy (maybe??) trying to decide if the "girl" walking down the street is a "girl" or a ketoy.

Tell them Dave from Chicago, that was with Nam said hello..he'll remember.

Enjoy
Dave
