I'm heading to Puerto Escondido in August 2004 and was wondering if someone could recommend a good hostel or budget type accomodation to stay at. I've heard great things about 'Surf Hostel Zicatela' but haven't been able to make any online reservations, if anyone knows the contact number so I could enquire and book over the phone I'd appreciate it.

mayflower hostel is a very nice place in the center of town.
clean and cheap. it's 2 minutes walk from the bus station.

It is not a hostel but a nice hotel but not that expensive, it is called Best Western Posada Real. That's where i always stay. Hope it helps.

in zicatela is the party so maruflower is not a good option, the western is expensive, just try bungallows papaya and you will be so happy with them, its just few meters from el cafecity restaurants, the surf escene is there girl, the cool people is in the bars arouns there, is safe and great... hey keep in touch my australian friends live there for mid term, and my american friend have a spanish and surfing school....
thats why is so good to meet people pedro
