Zagreb - Split trains
Posted: Mon June 14, 2004 09:31 AM UTC
This was asked many times before in Croatia forum, so here are the news about the railroad reconstruction. This is from the article in the last issue of Zeljeznicar (official newsletter of Croatian Railways):

First ICN (IC Nagibni = IC Tilting) train on Zagreb - Split route will start operating on June 28th.
From that day on this route there will be 3 daily ICN trains (5 hours, 160kn one way / 320kn return 2nd class ticket) and 2 night regular trains (8-9 hours, 143kn one way / 228,80kn return 2nd class ticket). Night trains have regular (compartments) and sleeping cars (extra supplement has to be paid).

From the end of July there will be one daily ICN train on Zagreb-Sibenik and Zagreb-Zadar route.

OK, update follows:
(silly me, for trusting Croatian Railways :-(

The railroad reconstruction is still unfinished and new ICN trains are supposed to be on tracks at the end of July.
The travel time will be 6 hours. Then the railroad will again be closed after September 15 untill December when finally reconstruction should be finished and trains will start running under 5 hours on this route (as planned).

Good news is that from July 28th the railroad is open for conventional trains - one daily and two night trains from Zagreb to Split.
