| Dalian | Visiting Dalian Posted: Tue June 8, 2004 11:46 AM UTC
Hello there. I will be visiting Dalian for work during Oct-Nov.
Can anyone give me any ideas what to expect? Is it a nice place? Things to see, do, eat? How's the weather? Is it possible to take a boat to Tianjin? I may be looking for a month's accom. for my wife and 2 kids. (I'm teaching at a Uni, but they apparently only have single accom.) Any ideas? Thanks Juppurula |

Hi,
Dalian is a great city. I have been teaching here for the last 9mths. It is a clean city (to Chinese standards) and is situated by the sea. The beaches are nice and you are able to escape the city with a short bus ride. I think Dalian would a ideal place to bring a family since it is safe and clean and there are plenty of things to do here. The people are friendly but will charge you a arm and a leg for everything if you do not bargain! I have taken a boat from Dalian to Tianjin during our May holiday. We were in fourth class tickets (sleepers) but the boat was clean and all in all it was a nice boat ride. I think it was about 12 hrs. You should have no problem in finding a apartment. I know many teachers who rent fully furnished apartments. They are nice and big and not to expensive. ( I would have the school pay for it). The weather is nice and warm now but will get pretty chilly in October, since it is a coastal city it is always very windy. They never turn on the heat before the end of November. Bring warm clothes! The food is not bad. They have plenty of seafood and if you are not a fan of seafood you always have your selection of chicken beef pork or mutton. Be careful if you decide to have fresh seafood 4 fellow teachers got a pretty bad case of food poisoning. well I hope this helps, C

yes that fallow's words are right. but you have choose a season that can't swim in the sea otherwise you will catch cold. but that is a good season for eating seafood, some of them you have not eaten in other place at that time they are fattest. i think you will like a scene named Bingyugu ,this valley looks beautiful and different in every season.
you look like need an apartment having two bed room\one sittingroom\kitchien\bathroom for one month. maybe i can furnish you but i don't know which month and which kind and which place do you need. you may write to me :wuxiaoming222@tom.com
