At http://www.arnhem.nl/sites/english/ you will find an accommodation selection, where some cheaper appartments are.
For a room or little appartment it will be difficult unless you rent from agencies. Multiple links to employment agencies can be found at http://uitzendbureau.pagina.nl/ (there are 2 agencies mentioned at Arnhem - Province of Gelderland). Some background info-links on work related topics at http://werk.pagina.nl/ PJ

Once in Arnhem you should go to: De Looierstraat.
The street is famous for the amount of job agencies, Looierstraat should not be very hard to find, it is directly in the middle of the city. Also enough jobs at or around: De Korenmarkt (where a lot of bars and restaurants are situated)

Finding a temporary place to stay in Arnhem will be difficult. The regular rental agencies have long waiting lists on which one or two years are not seldomly seen. Possibly you can apply for a "student"-room in Arnhem. Not always you have to be a student to apply for those. However, prices in this also often is high (250 euro and up is no exception).
Tip: http://www.studentinarnhem.nl/english.html For work you will as well meet a lot of difficulties. In the Looierstraat almost all temp-work-agencies have disappeared and are now more spread in the citycentre. Still, they too will have limited job-offers, especially if you are not able to speak the Dutch language. If you have any additional questions about my hometown, feel free to drop me an e-mail. I wish you good luck in your attempts to come here for a year! Greetings, Paul
