where do I find a last minute hhotal near schlitterbahn (within 15 min.) that are not outrageous prrices????

Well, I guess you've noticed by now that San Marcos is about 19 miles up the road from New Braunfels, and, since San Marcos is a university town, there are plenty of hotels there, many right along I-35. It may not be 15 minutes away (depends on how fast you drive), but shouldn't take a whole lot longer than that (unless Schlitterbahn is a long way away from I-35)...

Almost all of the major chains (marriott, hilton, comfort inn) have locations within 15 minutes of schlitterbahn. I have stayed there at the hampton inn, and it was nice.
I would also use hotwire.com, as it has new braunfels in the san antonio metro area.
